The Canadian Thread - Hi-Res images

Very nice stuff, Pierre!

Since we got two good dumps of snow in the last few days, here's another winter shot. Mile 145 west of Young.
Cheers, Jack

Hi Christian. I forgot about your shot on the previous page. Very nice. I was wondering what route that was. One of Joosten's?

Blue, I am really surprised at how much different my route looks in winter. Glad you like the shots.

And a couple of nice ones from you, Barti!

Oknotsen, another shot from Manitoba? Is that quonset building in the middle of your top shot available on the DLS?

Here's one at Zelma,
Cheers, Jack

What a fantastic winter shot! :D

Is that Grain Elevator on the DLS (and if so, what name and kuid)? Is it seasonal or did you just manage to hide that very well in your shot :p?

Oknotsen, another shot from Manitoba?
Yes, another shot from "somewhere in Manitoba".
Note that the closest I have ever physically been to Manitoba is Chicago (so about 1300km short of the area I am trying to model), so if things look a bit weird... I am open for suggestions :hehe:.

Here are a few more shots along the same line:

(... and I just noticed I forgot to fill up the ground under the tracks on the left side of that bridge :hehe:)

No clue if they are on the DLS, but they are built-in in my TANE Delux. They are made by TUME, part of his seasonal routes and available in 3 collors:

@ oknotsen and jackyamstel,

it is very nice to see that you both are using my seasonal content in your routes!
BTW: Dinorius_Redundicus also created very nice seasonal content and as far as I remember there is a seasonal grain elevator too – just in case you are interested in.

Your’s TUME

Oknotsen, thanks for the information regarding TUME's round sheds. I have to look at my content more closely as I have those items. What you're working on looks OK to me. Manitoba has hills, valleys, flat areas, wooded areas and wide open farmland, much like Saskatchewan, so you can pretty much make it as you like. Charlielima might be able to give you a suggestion or two since he lives there. Those grain elevators are by Adamovic and available at RRMods. They are not seasonal but are awesome assets.

Thanks for the info on Bendorsey's Quonsets, Jordon. I really do need to search for assets more often but there are so many!

TUME, your seasonal assets are terrific. The houses are perfect for small prairie towns. Thank you.
Cheers, Jack

A WIP I've been involved in for a little while. Still have a lot to do before it's complete.
A small route somewhere southeast of Saskatoon.

Claude

Good shot Jack & Oknotsen ! Erik, very nice shot...the use of the backdrop is very impressive in these shots .
Regards,
Rail4Pete

Claude, that's excellent work you're doing there. That scene looks very familiar. I've got two potash mines to do eventually. I have the track, roads, ponds and the tailings piles in place but no buildings. Not sure what I'll be doing about that. Lots of other things keeping me busy for now.

Nice shot, Pierre. We rarely saw an Alco out west. I think CP might have used them here though.

Great looking VIA power, Erik! And very nice screen shots too. I really like how you've done the grass and weeds.

Eastbound here, a few miles west of Watrous.
Cheers, Jack

Nice work, everyone.

Erik; Aww, VIA's The Canadian. Seen it many times pass my fire hall and always wished I could ride along. Someday maybe.

Jack: I've have attempted with what is available on Trainz to duplicate, albeit loosely, the Cory Potash mine on the Waterous sub southeast of Saskatoon. I've only had Google earth and a few aerial shots of the complex to go on so it isn't uber accurate. all the tracks are down, the mine complex is just about done, the tailings pile needs a fine tuning and then the detailing begins. Could be a few more months yet until complete.

One more shot.

A couple of nice pictures here! Always like to come here. Maybe Charlielima will give us a few more impressions of his WIP.

@Jack: Roy is busy with FBX or whatever it's called. Most recently, he completed the extended Laggan Sub, but there is nothing to see from this construction site. The route on the pic was one of the many W-(I do not know where this is going)-IPs of mine.

My-Trainz-Screenshot-Image.jpg

Claude, you are doing an amazing job on the mine. It's not far from where I live and I've driven past there many times. Keep up the great job you're doing!

That route in your screen shots may be a bit old but it doesn't look too bad, Oknotsen

Christian, another nice shot from you! You'll have to show more of that other WIP some time. Great stuff!

This one is a westbound just after crossing the Grand Trunk bridge. Most of the train is actually on the bridge and the east side of the river.
Cheers, Jack
