Could anyone make the J94 with the J50 style side tanks?

Have you got any better quality shots? I can't make out any difference between that and a normal J94 from your shots.

It all begs the question, "why?" What was wrong with the J94 as it was and why did the film company feel the need to put on faux J50 side tanks?

I'm not sure whether it was the film company or the Longmoor Military Railway workshops which made the change.

The Great St Trinians Train Robbery was filmed at the LMR because, as a military railway, it had far fewer rules about what constituted acceptable working. This allowed them to film real train chases including scenes where points are changed just in front of the oncoming locomotive and scenes with multiple trains in one track section

It's because two j94s were used for the filming and they needed to be noticeably different to avoid confusing the audience.
