Double tracks

Hello,
Is it possible to make double tracks with the new Auran 2009 track? I just see a single track in the list. I don't like stretching two single track across the country side.

Why not? Most of the experienced route builders don't like double track for one reason or another. One, the straighten track tool does not work on double track. Two, both tracks will have the same direction when laid, this confuses the AI. Three, two track bridges and stations need to be connected with single track. I could list more but that will do for now.

I laid double track when I started with Trainz but soon changed to laying single track for the very reasons listed by Bill69 there.

How does AI get confused in which direction to go when laying double track when you have track directional markers???

When you get to bridges, stations, industries that require one track to join them, in that section is when you use two single tracks then go back to using double track after you connect the other side.

Go to surveryor, operators & engineers here in the forum and read that thread and download it.It will become your bible for track work. It's been updated this past weekend.

Maybe I'm just uninformed, but I haven't seen Track Directional Markers work that well. I use two side by side lengths of SINGLE track when I need double track. Easier for me.

Track directional markers don't work where they are placed but at whatever junction they point to (J below) . Thus the leading end of a train will not cross a junction in the direction of the marker no matter how far away the marker is. I always place them close to junctions for clarity.

-TM1>----TDM>--------------T1---------------J-----------T2---------

Thus train T1 will run to the left to TM1 under AI whilst train T2 will not run to the junction J and cross it but will either take an alternative route or report no path if there is no alternative route.
