Philadelphia (Work In Progresss) (Large pics)

Hello again. Another CPU later (after I had 30th street more complete than ever) and progress has resumed. I moved over to the Zoo interlocking. It took some time to want to do 30th street again. I hover to it now, but things are coming along. I have bad days in blender, and days that ain't so bad

This is very good so far and I think this is more appealing than the Trainz 12 default Wilmington-Philadelphia route. I mean this is a better place to start a Metroliner or an Acela journey once this is finished!

Most of creation went well. Cira Center is still aggravating me. Happy at making supports for the freight tracks.

Just a heads up. I'm still doing the Market-Frankford Line but I have computer issues so I haven't played Trainz in a while and i'm starting to Jones.

Excellent Trizzy. I've done work in the tunnel from 30th to 34th but that's it so far. I've been practicing on buildings this past week. Hit and miss as usual...

Gave everything but the doors and a/c a quick adjustment. Still debating keeping the extra door animations.

Just stumbled on this posting while checking other screenshots. Your pictures are great and your route looks wonderful. It is bringing back some great memories. Took the main line from Swarthmore to 30th Street Station quite a few times. I’m quite familiar with the Philly - Wilmington Line, having grown up in that area many many years ago. I’ll be following your progress with great interest. I hope to run some GG1s on your route when completed. I loved seeing them racing on the line years ago. Thanks for posting.

Everytime I feel something goes right with something I'm doing, I get excited about sharing it. I'm having one of those times at the present moment. Things are going great, so great that there are no pictures today. Heading into this past weekend, I thought I'd easily have an update by yesterday. Trying to get my rambling out of the way too for that update lol. Pictures are and always be what speaks around here.

I wished I could find as many threads back then as I can now about the pitfalls of route building. Better put as the Content Creation guides exist for a reason, use them Tate!! This route shows a lot of them I've faced. Add in a stubborness streak that's unmatched and we are here today. Start by building a building, and get comfortable with the process.

I had the bright idea to finally lay down New Jersey. That alone refocused me about my intentions.

NEC: Loop from 30th Street to North Philly and maybe through Temple (because that route is already done and in the game) but into the tunnel and back to 30th street. That's where I figure discourages most folks from even touching this area.

SEPTA: The rapid transit system underground, and one of everything that could stop in or around this route. Trizzy wants Silverliners!!! :hehe:

Anything beyond that will be the result of a good day turned into a long string of success.

I didn't expect to care about scenery but I do.

Great work. The NEC is such an underrepresented area in Trainz, I imagine partly due to it's complexity. It would be nice to have even smaller portions of it to run some electrics on. You've been at this a long time, I admire your dedication and look forward to seeing your future progress.

Very nice job on this route! Keep up the great work! Especially like the Boathouse Row scene!

Zoo Interlocking with it's subway tunnels are complex ... at one time the Highline connected directly to the Harrisburg tracks to/from Overbrook ... now they just take a subway tunnel and go to the River Line

Yeah, the Zoo, hate this place, but it just needs a repass since I can do my own stuff now.






I'm getting happier with how North Philly is coming, so decided to work on a destination I've yet to mention but planned to include. Being in the City it's a train ride through a forest. Ride is beautiful is to me for that reason. Putting it in game, not so much. I can't follow my cursor to N. Philly w/o needing a nap so I'm not sure if it will see further progress.



The station is okay, but the view coming in of the Casinos are breathtaking. I want to add that. Nothing to really see along the way except this place:



While off in the distance, that is the area I finally understood information I had already, like parking lot composition.


It's so nice to be able to find SEPTA content on the DLS now. They were scarce 10 years ago. I wish someone would put one of each so I can stop and go ride!! 2 leftmost vehicles are not mine but are on the DLS.



I've long known they all needed rebuilding, I just keep trying to fix em. If you've actually made it this far, this is why I've been giddy, I'm starting to build, and texture with the experience of having learned how to make just about every mistake possible, so it should look like it. I want to get back to taking my time and get everything nice and right, so maybe this will do in the meantime?

Decades ago, I used to see a lot of freights at night on the Harrisburg line, not sure if it is an all passenger line now.

Looking at my previous post doesn't give me the chills (of horror) like it used to. Through your support, I like to show improvement. I've long been out of my depths, but this long in the ocean, I should at least be able to doggypaddle. It's been a month since I said an update was incoming, but I'm still not there. I still want things more complete. I have intentionally stopped mentioning things I'm doing by name because my stuff comes up in my own searches and I'd like to reduce that frequency. Septa actually wants to spend the highest fares in the land on something huh?

Where things are along with the work still to be done. Unpainted for those who wish to do their own.
