Escanaba and Lake Superior in the North Woods

2 of the ELS SD9's come out of storage and head up the line to the Groos Yard to grab some empty log cars that will be taken over to Pembine...The ELS will travel on CN tracks to Pembine and connect with there line their and swap cars at the saw mill before coming back to Escanaba..The bridge in the back belongs to the CN that head up to Gladstone

Some info on how the ELS is ran today

The E&LS schedule into Green Bay is nominally Monday, Wednesday & Friday. Typically, they do not come in that often. With no grain moving out of Oconto Falls anymore, they rarely would come in more than 3 times per week. The only interchange the E&LS has is the CN in Green Bay, Pembine & Marinette. By far the biggest interchange is Green Bay. I also assume they may interchange cars with the CN in the Escanaba area. As far a when they arrive in Green Bay, the most common is late morning to early afternoon if the train starts out in Crivitz. The GB train could be sitting anywhere from Pembine to Lineville Road in Howard, just north of GB All E&LS trains to and from GB have their crews start at Crivitz whether the train is there or not. The crews taxi to the trains location. If the E&LS gets to GB later in the afternoon, the CN may not let them into the yard. Their one big customer is a LP OSB plant in Sagola, MI. LP gets in lots of logs and pumps out maybe 10-20 box car loads of OSB per week when times are good. Lakes Gas in Crivitz gets in a lot of LPG tank car loads that come in through Green Bay. The E&LS also moves quite a bit of pulpwood for various Wisconsin Mills, the biggest ones seem to be Thilmany in Kaukauna and whatever mill is in Wisconsin Rapids. A fair amount of logs also go to Sappi in Cloquet, MN although they do not make paper anymore but still use logs. The E&LS has recently taken over all the local switching for the CN in Marinette/Menominee. The CN has the road haul in and out of there. The co-op in Coleman, WI gets a lot of Potash this time of year but rarely has a car on their spur any other time of the year. McDermid Warehouse in Oconto Falls ships out canned vegetables maybe averaging 3 loads per week over time. The co-op has shut down. At the very south end of the E&LS at Bond St. in NW Green Bay there are two customers, Wis Bldg Supply and NPS Corp. WBS gets centerbeam lumber loads regularly and NPS gets covered hoppers of Plastic Pellets sporadically. In Upper MIchigan (excluding LP in Sagola) the E&LS loads mainly logs at 4 or 5 locations. They have also recently (last fall) started running north of Channing about 9 miles to Floodwood. There cement is transloaded for rail to truck. Sporadically, waste ore from Empire mine is trucked to Floodwood and loaded into gons. Paint is also loaded into gons in non-winter months at Sidnaw. This traffic is also quite sporadic. The ore comes from the old Peterson Mine in the south-western U.P.

ELS 400 comes off the CN as it grabs some empty bulkheads that will be shoved north of the CN diamond and loaded with logs

The ELS came south today with their train from Crivitz....This is the daily Crivitz to Green Bay turn where in the morning it comes down to Green Bay and then later in the afternoon it goes back north for Crivitz....Today we caught him near Velp Ave out in Howard

Checking out some ELS action in the NE side of the state...Not much going on at Wells MI but some sharks are stored in the engine house....

Went down to Marinette to see what was going on...Caught the 202 heading to the CN interchange yard

Some shots around Wells Michigan, lots of locos laying around lately

Here we caught the 300 in Pembine Wisconsin where it will swap out these empties for loads, the conductor will go into the depot and grab the paper work he needs for the loads that are on the north side of the diamond, the ELS has trackage rights from Escanaba to Pembine over the Canadian National ex-Wisconsin Central to reach their home rails here at Pembine

After making a run to Pembine, the ELS 300 is seen here stopped at Powers, where a new crew will come on and take it back to Escanaba, gotta love the "can only work so long on the clock law"

The Escanaba and Lake Superior RR's #402 is seen here at Stiles Jct, as it takes the connection track onto the old CNW, to make a run to Oconto Falls to drop of some cars at the co-op in town

OK kid two things.
1. Do not necro a dead thread.
2. You've got the ipad version of trainz. Therefore you can not download anything.
