YOINK!
Just when you thought you'd gotten rid of me...:hehe:
Managed to get down to the West Bottoms to do some 'proper' railfanning today; you wouldn't believe what I found
With Williams Bay & North Western (ex-T&NM/nee-Southern Pacific) Mt-4 class 4-8-2 skyliner No. 4350 tacked on the front as a "pilot" engine, Southern Pacific GS-4 "Daylight" No. 4449 leads her PA-PB Bloody Nose diesel helpers and a full to the brim excursion train through the maze of tracks in Kansas City's west bottoms industrial district.
Not entirely sure what happened here: I think Wilhelm, the fireman, may have sanded the flues
Erm, scrap that, he
DEFINITELY sanded the flues!
Pounding over the West Street overpass, near Doc's Caboose hobby store
Bit of a hilarous backstory to this shot: I had set up here under the impression that the train would be routed down the right-hand main, with the traffic pattern. I had forgotten, however, that the KCP&L coal shuttle was using the right-hand line as a drill track while it unloaded. As a result, I was unprepared when No. 4350 came barreling by inches from my face. This shot was the result of me reflexively hitting the camera shutter as I jumped back about 30 feet!
