Reskin Problems

Last Christmas, I got Trainz 2010 Engineers Edition and after playing with it for now, I wanted to reskin some of the steam locos in the game. What I want right now is the remove the number from the CN Northern Type locomotive, remove the numbers and letters of a Big Boy tender, and then clone that tender and color it black like the CN Northern. So far I can't get it right for if I delete the numbers, the locomotive file is faulty, and the Big Boy tender is mostly all white. I want to make then look like the Mountain Type engine and tender, no markings so I can put them anywhere. I only have Adobe CS4 and so far none of the prgrams has helped. Can anyone tell me what I could be doing wrong?

Hi and welcome to the forums,

For the Big Boy tender, its built-in. You will need to use PEVS Image2tga (http://members.optusnet.com.au/~villaump/pevsoft.htm) to convert the .texture files to .tga. Then open it in Adobe CS4 and make the changes. Make sure when you save it it doesn't have any compressions on it, else it may not work. As for the CN Northern Type locomotive, the errors will help. There are a few things that could go wrong with a re-skin.

Alright thanks! I'll give that a try and see how it goes. By the way, is the West Somerset Railway real? Or is it a digital trainz world? I believe that I heard it in a youtube series titled "Flight of the Phoenix"

The West Somerset Railway is real, here in the UK. http://www.west-somerset-railway.co.uk/. it was first opened in the 1830's i think, as UK broad gauge, then was made Standard gauge. Its now the longest steam heritage railway in the UK! I will take a look at "Flight of the Phoenix" and see if theres any good info on there.

cheers
