I have been using engine configs generated by T3P - Trainz Pro Performance Physics www.trainzproroutes.com. I use these because engine power is consistent. Example, a SD-40's power(pull, 3000hp) is about twice that of a SD-7(1500hp). This is at their continuous rating. Their starting pull ratings are pretty close. Starting values roughly depend on weight although the new generation units with microprocessor wheel slip control and/or AC traction motors have changed things hugely.

T3P was made to fix the bug in TRS2004 ONLY, if you use it in anything else your engine will have the wrong power curve. The bug was the constant of gravity was wrong.

Does anyone still have spreadsheed?
