Slave to my route
Welcome to the very early screen shots of the L&A. This is a fictional railroad based out of Levi Kentucky. I have a history already written for the railroad but I won't bore you with it now. The map was generated with the use of TransDEM.

Below are early shots of the heavy locomotive repair facility outside the town of Levi. I would like to hear your commits and suggestions.

Here is a list of building I used on this part of the route. I believe most of these buildings are on the DLS.

Harrison Switzer Milling Company DES KUID: 101046:100082
Diesel_Engine_house_1trk_open_brick KUID2: 86729:40007:3
FMA Engine shed W-E KUID: 149987:25362
UD-BrickEngineHouse KUID: 276733:150002
Reddish Electromotive Maintenance Depot KUID: 61109:28201
Boott-Cotton-Mill KUID2: 33404:504360:2
VFUK Textile Mill kuid:61109:100001
Building Cane Mill kuid:-1:100254

cascaderailroad I have read many of your posts and learned a lot by reading them and following your examples. Your posts really helped my yard ladders, thank you!

coreycoen12345, good point I guess I should install a small diesel servicing area. In my rewrite of history; crude oil fuels will be very expensive and oil is more valuable as a lubricant than a fuel as coal will be vastly more plentiful and cheap. The steam locomotive will be king on this route ;) .

These pictures were taken at the base of the "cut in the hill" helper siding. The crew of the 2-10-0 are talking to the helper crew wither they need help with the empties through the cut? Also you will see a personal reskined caboose just out of the photoshop  I'm not very happy with the grass  could someone please make some suggestions.

As always I would like to hear any advise you may offer.

Between classes and grading tests and classwork work on the L&A slowly moves forward.

Here is the L&A showing off their new additions to the fleet; all 3 of the Erie's Triplexs are now in the hollows of Kentucky. Here they are being showen off the to the town of Levi.

Next in the Little Hope Mine. Turns out they hit a nice vein of coal for a small mine. Due to the topography they only have enough room for 10 hoppers at a time so the mine sees at least 6 trains a day.

Outside the town of Wilson

Here we have the Bluegrass Local crossing the Little Hope Mine bridge after just leaving the town of Wilson.

Thai1on: I like your pictures and a good start to L&A..I love your smoke..Good Trainzing to you..

With completing the mainline from Levi to Beattyville with most of the scenery in place I went on a TransDEM, USGS Seamless server, raster map binge over my 3 day weekend  The L&A now stretches from Hazard KY. to the northern edge of the Cincinnati Queensgate yards and the Cincinnati Union Terminal. As the route stands now it's just shy 200 miles long and is 50% freelance and 50% borrowing from the L&N

Awesome work so far, I am all about the steam era...
Is Winton Place aka Chester Park Oh gone to featured on this route?

Winton Place, I remember it well. Yes, in fact the B&O leg of the route will continue up through Norwood, Oh. (my earliest rail fan spot) where the northern portal will be. I did look up the Chester Park picture and very cool but the L&A will pass the old Coney Island and River Downs horse track alone the banks of the Ohio river. With the new Google sketch up Trainz exporter working I hope to find many of the classic and famous buildings and sites in the warehouse.

Time for the L&A to hire a whole bunch of gandy dancers as I have a lot of track that needs to be laid. I guess I'll be starting in Hazard and working north to Levi so around 45 miles of track needs to be put down.

I would like to hear your commits and suggestions.

The route is looking very promising, and thank you for not posting pictures of blank baseboard. I can't help but notice the above, and suggest that you are spending way too much time in "Edit in Explorer"!:D

Seems the NYC is having a problem with their mainline out of Boone's Gap so the Ohio State Express is running over the L&A's tracks today. Of course our trusty rail fan had his camera ready as the Alco K5 came flying through!

Now back to track work :hehe:

work, work, work

Just a small update; I've managed to get the north bound mainline completed from Hazard to Maysville, Kentucky and using the jet sled and timing the run the line now sits at 210 miles  Next I will lay the south bound mainline and once that is finished will come the next phase. The line will be extended south and east from Hazard to Jenkins, KY. where the line will terminate and will be a major transfer point for at least 5 class 1 railroads ;)
