Line Protection Problem

Hi

Do the trains run randomly? If not then the answer may be to build in gaps between mainline trains to allow any conflicting movements to take place safely. However if they run randomly then I think you are going to need some form of conditional rule which will set main line signals to red when a conflicting move is about to take place.

I think your idea of putting it on the DLS would be helpful as actually seeing what you want to do would be useful.

crossovers

sorry i'm late on this one but try the " junction link" this can be downloaded off the dls. this enables you to link 2 junctions together I use this on single and double slips also on double crossovers if I have a diamond crossing I use an invisible track such as mains to make a single slip make sure you put it on trailing
one thing I don't understand is the position of the crossover on the downside wouldn't this be better with a diamond crossover and a single slip to p3 &4

The trains are non-specific, but the movments are in a set order, so there is no real scheduling with the route or the type of trains there would be as well as type of rolling stock, so it's a general rolling stock on set movments running in an unlimited session time (which menas there is no start or end to the session, which means it can go on forever).

hmm... interesting, I might try that after I ahve tried out all fo these suggesstions.

Do you think you can upload an image of this altered layout to the forums?

Thank you guys, I think I have plenty to experement with, I think if I get anymore I won't have time to try them all out. :D

hi mate
if you dl my route caboolture to rockhampton from the dls you will see the way i did the signals at the big places.

the whole route is signaled and works with 13+ AI trains and whatever i am driving.

it took me a long time to get it right

its easier for you to look at what i did , rather than me trying to explain

cheers
ron
hi mate

sessions are on the dls as well
as set up for multiple AI running as well as your own train

Hi there, It appears that there's a few unknown KUIDs in the DLS route.

Here's the list <kuid2:39730:61000:1>,<kuid2:13013:10701:1>,<kuid2:13013:12721:1>,<kuid2:13013:3318:1>,<kuid2:13013:33018:1>,<kuid2:13013:20242:1>,<kuid2:13013:20041:1>,<kuid2:13013:20241:1>,<kuid2:13013:2000:1>,<kuid2:13013:20002:1>,<kuid:123810:7001>,<kuid2:13013:1200:1>,<kuid2:13013:1225:1>,<kuid2:13013:170055:1>,<kuid2:13013:3317:1>,<kuid2:1854:1637:1>,<kuid2:13013:331070:1>,<kuid2:13013:3301070:1>,<kuid:13013:33017>,<kuid2:13013:11711:1>,<kuid:231901:100051>,<kuid:231901:100053>,<kuid:231901:100025>,<kuid:231901:100052>,<kuid:231901:100033>,<kuid:231901:100030>,<kuid:231901:100054>,<kuid:231901:100055>,<kuid:231901:100048>,<kuid:231901:100023>,<kuid:231901:100022>,<kuid:231901:100034>,<kuid:231901:100118>,<kuid:231901:100021>

Session and Route are approving the upload as we speak, look out for:
  • Lowfell Session <KUID:127291:100060>
  • Lowfell <KUID:127291:100058>
In the next couple of hours.

Have fun trainzing everyone.:D

P.S. The missing assets might be the VSR stations on http://www.vsr.org.uk/?projectid=4 it didn't occour to me about that issue while I was uploading.

Hi

I have downloaded the route and session and corrected the red errors that they came up with. Wrong build number as they are 3.4 and I have 3.3.

The session shows no missing dependencies and there are a lot of drivers showing with their commands but there are no vehicles on the session. There doesn't appear to be any portals so are they added by some other method? Does it need to be run in compatability mode?

I'm going out this evening but I will have a look at it over the next day or two.

try to change the build numbers of the route and session from 3.4 to 3.3 in config.txt . should work then.

well that i have t say all seems very confusing? is this based on a real localtion or can you change som of the conflicting crossovers?

otherwise if this was real world that conflicts would be averted by time tabeling the trains arival/departure times so that no train would be needing the same stretch of track.

does seem like there are some unessasary lines and junctions but timetabling trains would be my best sugestion

Fictional (not real) :Location, so you can change the track layout, but try to keep it within the space that has already been taken up if you're doing the session or editing the image seen on this thread.

Yeah, timetabling trains would be a good idea, but this involves a bit of "chicken and the egg", which came first?

The reason for this would be that timetabling services would be applied all over the route.

Thus, the whole route needs to be tested and optimised to prevent chrashes if a timtable clashes with another.

At the moment, the route needs to prove that it can handle anything if something goes wrong, thus the expression "fail-safe".

Strictly, you get timetabled passenger trains.

But do you get timetabled freight trains? I don't think so.

And there's the other point of train portals, portal trains won't be timetabled at all, so yeah pretty random with the freight and portal passenger trains.
does seem like there are some unessasary lines and junctions but timetabling trains would be my best sugestion
We,, as I said before, you can design a more efficant junction if you want to, but to be honest, you ahve to test it before posting a solution.:D

well sadly I dont have dls access but ill have a look, and while fright trains arent strickly time tabled they will operate acording to other timtabled services.

anyways as I said ill see if i can play around with it, ive had a couple of complicated station junctions on my own route hopefully i can help!

Do you think I should upload the route onto a third-party site so you can look for it? or shall you make your own version of it?:)

Experement testing day bump.

Okay, I have motivated myself to do an experement with another map (yes, even the replica of the network was a bit too complex for my knoledge).

And my query is "how do you get rules to loop".

The reason I ask that is because I made a simple train go round a simple track on a single baseboard (radius of the curve if 350m, multiply that by 2 and add 20 is 720, which is the baseboard size.)

I aslso Placed 4 signals where the track met the edge and named one signal "signal" and assigned rules to it (Yes, 1 does the job).

I then placed 2 triggers on the opposite sides of the map (2 signals appart) and named them "Signal 1 Trigger" and "Signal 1 Trigger 2" with "Signal 1 Trigger" setting the signal to danger and "Signal 1 Trigger 2" Setting the signal to another aspect (in this case, Automatic).

A train was sent around the circuit on autopilot with no specific destination in mind, so it would travel endlessley around this circle of track.

Then I set the rules as Shown in http://img816.imageshack.us/img816/4274/ben1337201102170000.png Signal P state is the Signal predicted State, which is meant to be 0 and anything more then 1.

The reason it has to be greater then 1 is if it has more aspects (and if I choose to expand on it, thus I would have 0 for danger, 1 for caution, 2 for advanced caution and 3 for clear).

The Signal D state states whether the signal is at the danger state (the signal P state and the Signal D state is different as the Signal D State reflects the current Signal state, also known as the current signal indication, the Signal P state reflects Whether the signal Should be at Danger or another aspect According to the current rules, it doesn't reflect the Current Signal Indication).

The link shows the route layout http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/2535/ben1337201102170002.png.

The Problem is the Rules Do activate in the correct order, but they only activate once, meaning that once the train goes round the full circle once, the Layout Breaks down, making signal 1 fail in the automatic position as well as the variables stop changing.

This is linked to the lowfell layout in the aspect that the variables could assist with the correct route indication as well as solve problems over time.

The Route layout is retrieved from this link http://filesmelt.com/dl/Experement.cdp (it's there if you need it, everything should be on the Download Station).

SOme Suggesstions please.

By the way, how is everyone else going with the experementing?

P.S. I start my experemnts with something simple and expand on it, that's why I chose a simple circle.

P.P.S. With the ATLS system, I need to have signals with boat's ATLS script, trainz will not allow me to edit that in into their built-in signals.

Added:

Due to recent circumstances, I am now terminating the Vale Rale project and everythig relating to the route.

It has truely been a pleasure trying to get rosworth vale up to AI standards.
