NSW North Coast mainline. Kyogle to QLD Border

Found something new today. Just north of the first level crossing south of Loadstone station there is a farm tractor with disk attachments. There are two red arrows that seem to generate dust. Cute would be the word

Anyone know what the red arrow item is that generates the very real looking dust?

Thanks

Actually the "Border Loop" safeworking crossing loop itself is missing although there is single line track at that location. It is located between the spiral #2 tunnel and the border tunnel mouth. At various times that safeworking loop has been de-commissioned and recommissioned so its existence depends on your selected time era.

On a side note, the Border "Crossing Loop" is frequently confused with the "border spiral". The crossing loop is a safeworking feature with a crossing loop track and a mainline track next to each other where one train waits for the other train to go past it and give it the safeworking staff. The spiral is a continuous track that climbs higher through a circle.

Just done the maths from a track plan I have. The Sydney end of the Border tunnel is 875.481 km from Sydney. The site of the "Border Loop" safeworking crossing loop is given as 875.050 km from Sydney.

That 875.050 km spot would perhaps refer to the mid point of the passing loop or the signal box location which was somewhere near mid point left hand side heading to Sydney. The 1367 foot passing loop was on the western side, left hand side, of the main line heading to Brisbane. I know one measurement is in imperial feet and the others are in metric but the charts I have are from different time eras.

The points at the northern end of the crossing loop are almost at the top of the climb from the south with the vertical curve, the top of the grade, just before the tunnel mouth.

hi craig

they did show in cmp before i merged
after that nothing

i tried to let the window dog do a search through the local folder for the names of the routes,
but it couldnt find them

too many for me to go through manually

at this time i do not have the time or the inclination to uninstall and reinstall the game

still got people living with us that cant go home as yet

never mind though

i'll just keep up with the thread and eventually it will be fixed

maybe its the way i merged them

singly they showed up fine,
but now none do

thanks for the help

Hi Ron,

I see that you live in Ipswich and realise that you have problems in that area with flood damage, plus your visitors you are kindly looking after. I hope you had no damaged with any flood waters.

Once everything settles down a bit for you let us know or even email/PM me and we will work through the problem.

I would not suggest un/re installing 2010 as a solution, I think the answer is elsewhere.

We can talk about it later, take care for now.

I think I should add a comment here thanking Pete for the hard yakka he has put into all these excellent routes.

I have now merged them all and spend hours setting up AI trains to run the route.

On a positive side, I just merged the Border Loop section and nothing was out of place and no missing patches of ground.

When I merged the Kyogle section, most of the bridge abuttments had either rotated or moved. Not so with the Border section, nothing wrong at all.

I think the 2010 merge feature still has a few minor bugs, not too bad, easy to fix most of them.

Thanks Pete for all your hard work.

Dennis

I downloaded Pete's latest creation via CM3 and like Red Rattler had issues somewhat similar (except for the missing textures). So what I did was delete the route from CM and then downloaded via FTP. Miraculously when I opened the route the errors were nowhere to be found.

I managed to merge the route with the rest of Pete's North Coast layouts and so far the only issues have been a few bridge abuttments out of place plus a few cattle grids. All else seems to be in order.

As Dennis pointed out thanks should go to Pete for the great layouts he has created for the community.

Cheers

Thanks for the comments...

It seems that there are still some issues with merging routes in various versions and builds of Trainz.

Ive seen some of the moving track objects (abutments, cattle grids etc) also but this didnt happen for me in my version of TS2006(2.6 Build 3092) or TS2010(44088).

Maybe there should be some effort info fixing these annoying issues instead of getting a version to run on the IPAD ???

If I had used my brains I would have just given the URL for the Border Loop station diagram...

Sorry Leo, I don't read Dutch but I assume you are asking about the industries and what freight to ship?

The general district was timber and dairy with meatworks at Casino. Pre about late 1950s there was a short steam train that went north as far as the Border Loop Station collecting school kids, cream and timber. It also delivered mail, parcels and general perishables etc to the locals in the isolated locations.

Kyogle had a siding for a sawmill with a veneer section on the western side, southern end of the yard. Norco had a dairy siding western side middle of the yard.

Main traffic was interstate to and from QLD.

Other forum members might have more about the local train up to the border as well as other more interesting help about the industries.

The Kyogle track plan to which I referred is
http://www.signaldiagramsandphotos.com/mywebpages/nsw/Northern/KYOGLE1944.htm

from
http://www.signaldiagramsandphotos.com/

Norco is a very large dairy company that has many factories at locations through out all of Peter Gibbons' Northern Rivers routes ie Byron Bay, Lismore, Casino, Murwillumbah, Kyogle etc

Some background at
http://www.norco.com.au/publish/history/index.php which has a picture of some of these factories.
