Railway Photography ( Hi Res warning )

South Coast Trainz
Hi all :)

Okay.. i've searched for any threads that are the same but i've so far come up short, if i'm missing one please point me in the right direction :)

Basically i've set up this thread for people to showcase their photography, it can be any country or era, so long as it's railway related, this is not a place to discuss TOC policies, but to showcase your work, anyhow, i'll start us off.

It would help if the size was limited, I have wide screen & still only got 30% of hoborailcat pic on the screen, they are way too big for this forum.
meyshollop's pics were fine.

Some from me.

@Robd - thanks, i just finished editing a bunch and no - one looks at my photography site so i thought it'd be perfect here :) And your pics are pretty good too! :)

I'm a loco shed volunteer, so it means i can get shots that other people cant, so if you ever need cab shots of Bullied pacifics, or any locos on this site: http://www.watercressline.co.uk
Then i'm the man for it xD

Right. pics

Here's a few from me here in West Virginia:

First some from Bluefield:

Then one a short while away from Thurmond:

Then, finally we have some from Cumberland, Maryland:

I even got to speak to the crew when they arrived:

All wonderful memories of railfanning in and around West Virginia!

Thanks!

@ Conrail45

That was the first steam loco to exceed 100 mph (1904 - I think), albeit unofficially. It only runs on heritage rails now - restricted to 25 mph, but hey, still going!

Cheers,

Rob.

Here's a handful of my favourites from the last year or so (all hosted on Flickr - click through to see the rest):

46115 "Scots Guardsman" approaching Bournemouth station with the return leg of the "Dorset Coast Express" tour from Weymouth.

Swanage station doing a good impression of being in black and white.

The SR's two resident Cromptons resisting the temptation to "do the bagpipe thing".

31271 and 37264 pull away from Harmons Cross during last year's Swanage Railway Diesel Gala.

Stratford's finest: 47580 "County of Essex" approaching Corfe Castle during last year's Swanage Railway Diesel Gala.

Hastings Unit 1001 speeds through Meyrick Park with the "Andy Piper Memorial Tour".

Lymington 3-CIG 1497 at Brockenhurst a couple of weeks before withdrawl.

Hey, durhamlass, some interesting pics there and as if by magic, if a pic is clicked on it links to other pics - how do you do that?

Cheers,

Rob.

It's just the standard BBCode exported by Flickr (their terms of service require me to post the link rather than just embedding the image).

Very nice pictures indeed everyone!:D
I haven't seen down under represented yet?

This is ex-NSWGR 3237 on tour up on the North Coast Line in New South Wales. And no, this isn't a branch line, she's sitting on a refuge loop on the main! She was waiting for an intermodal train to pass (which I didn't get any pictures of, but I took a video). When the two NR Class diesels came past (NR 25 and NR 26, both 'Indian Pacific' units) the driver had his phone out the window taking a few pictures.:hehe:

A shot of the cab at Taree Station. I did get to climb up and introduce myself to the engineer, but didn't take any shots (silly me). I have got much better cab shots around, like the ones of 3642 at the Maitland Steamfest, or 3820 at the NSW Rail Transport Museum

And, just so you know what an NR Class is, here's NR 109 and NR 100. NR 109 is a 'Ghan' unit, which I found pretty cool since the 'Ghan' runs from Adelaide to Darwin, nowhere near the east coast. The other Ghan units include NR 74, 75, and AN 3.

I know, shabby pictures. But the best I could find on my computer (there's a heap more on my camera).

Once again, awesome pictures everyone. It's great to see an insider view of the railways/railroads of the world.

Thanks,
Mitch

Nice pics, one little snag though, they're massive, pixel wise, I have to scroll across quite a lot to take them all in on my piddling 22" monitor!

Cheers,

Rob.
