From the "So Ugly I Have To Have One!" files.

Maybe I'm alone here, but I don't find that ugly. In fact I rather like the rounded look of the nose, it's sort of art deco. And the silver/blue scheme is quite nice too.

Is it inspired by or inspire the Airstream caravan? An undeniable classic. I actually like this loco too.

I'll reserve judgement on the 380 until I see the real thing. The new Matangi trains for KiwiRail didn't look very purdy in mock ups but don't seem too bad in actual pics.

I really like the 334s though. Nobody has done any for Trainz yet perchance?

What do you make of the "Plugs" GE built for Freightliner?
Haven't got beyond that the end shapes and details are interesting and might be used for a freelance On30 model. And that huge windshield must cost about the same as a small third world country's total GDP to replace.

Thinking about name "Plugs, yeah, front end does kinda look like there's a socket it might fit.

b) but at least they spound like a real loco and don't "Ying"
Could I ask for some enlightenment as to the meaning of the "Ying"?

It's a reference to the engine sound of an EMD class 66 ("Shed" or "Ying") or class 59 ("Super Shed" or "Daddy Ying").

As in?
YingYingYingYingYingYingYingYingYingYingYingYingYingYing...

I can see upon a Google image search how the Shed name came about.
If someone doesn't get that upon seeing the beast, explaining it to them still isn't going to help them get it.
