What kind of train would this be?

Ok, i have just finished reading a book called Ghost Train. It revolves around a demon that posses people on the trains on what the book calls the "King's Cross line". It stays in their mind, and uses their fears to get them to do its bidding.

Anyway, i know very little about trains in general. Im assuming this line exists, and can someone show me what a King's Cross express train would have looked like? The book was set in 1985 i believe, give or take a year. The only description is that its white, with sleek lights.

The only King's Cross I know of is the Kings Cross station in the London underground(subway).
There was a terrible accident in 1987.

The underground platforms are only a small part of Kings Cross station, the
majority of traffic is above ground on the ECML terminus.
White trains did run on the premier services of the ECML in the 80's, see the
