NSW Northlines

Ive decided to relocate a few hundred K's north from my last route and start work on some of the northern NSW lines. They will be TransDEM based and built in TS2006 but should import into '9' or '10'.

The first will be the Murwillumbah branch which branches off the North Coast Line at Casino.
Stage 1 will be Casino to Lismore and this should be on the DLS in a day or so.
Stage 2 will be Lismore to Byron Bay.
Stage 3 will be Byron to Murwillumbah.
Stage 4 will possibly be the branch to Ballina.
Thanks to DiRICo for copies of his rail diagrams. NSWRail.net for general information and all content creators.

Boo yah! I have an interest in this area, after reading a copy of Byways of Steam No 19(?) It seems like an interesting area, with a rich railway history. The book also had enough information that i briefly considered modeling a small part of this line myself; my somewhat mediocre skills in surveyor means this is not to be.

I'm glad some has finally moved north with their creations. We need more northern routes.

Nice pic, by the way.

Matt.

Sounds like an ambitious project, and I for one love the idea, would love to see more great quality Aussie freeware routes, when they're done of course :)

Hello PGibbons,

That sounds great. If its half as good as all your other routes, I am sure they are going to be awesome. Look forward to seeing progress screenshots to make us all green with envy.

Cheers

Trent

A project(s) I'll be keeping an eye on.

Best of luck with your endeavours (no pun intended :hehe: ), Peter.

No pun there, mate. As far as i am aware, the Endeavour sets are used exclusively on the south coast/southern lines. That far north you'd be seeing Xplorers and XPTs'.

Then again, i have been known to be wrong before, so feel free to correct me. I like to learn new things.

Matt.

Well first up the set in the shot is an exploder/explorer, and no they dont normally run up here in the land that the rail operators forget. Pending what part of the coast your on there are between 1-3 xpts each way each day. NT31/32 Brisbane NT33/34 Casino NT35/36 Grafton.

Kyogle pleeeeaaaase

I hope you decide to add the Casino to Kyogle line as well. I was thinking some time ago of doing my home town area but getting data was going to me my issue.
Being in Sydney with only limited resources I have put it off.

My brother has actually over the last few months sent me some information to make a start.
You appear to have done a lot already with the Casino to Lismore section released.
I will definately download all this to create a mini Far North Coast Layout.

Again

I thought thAt that track wasn't very realistic, maybe some of natvander's tracks??

Pgibbons, just your DL'd Casino-Lismore route. I like it, looks pretty good. However, i am inclined to agree with JJdella; Natvanders' track would make this route a little more realistic; also your trackwork needs a little tweaking, if trains aren't to look too toy-like going through the points.

Wasp1, it sounds like Pgibbons has his hands full already; however since someone has already started work on this area, i may have a go at the Kyogle line myself. I have the information there that i need, and i have been thinking about creating a prototypical route.

Matt.

Wasp1/mattm

there are a few of us that have been researching in Private the NSW North Coast line from Maitland through to Brisbane, using DEM. Perhaps all those interested coudl join forces and see the line done right.
In regards to track Natvanders tracks are good but there are better detailed tracks that can be used in 2006 just comes down to the era, for the record the North Coast has been concrete sleepered for about 3-4 years now or you can use VR track that looks good even in 2006.

Hi downloaded it into Trainz 12 even though CMP says it complete with no errors there is a couple of textures not showing on the loop just before the north fiddleyard not bad considering it was not meant for this version, great route. Been running the NSW CPH , CTH & CHP railmotors on this route. Only one thing needs a home signal from the Ballina branch at the junction, very hard to go this far to set the point so the starter at Ballina will go green, if one did not exist a invisible one will do the job.

Thanks

Tom

PGibbons, where did you get the information & maps about a Ballina sugar cane railway?

And yes, I know this thread is over 3 years old, except for Tdstead's post before this.

Edit: Oops, I didn't know this was a screenshot thread. I did a search, and didn't see it was in the screenshot section.

If anyone is interested in the Northern Rivers, then you should demostrate your level of support NOW as there are proposals and plans to rip up all the inactive railways in the region and replace them with a useless pathway! (Rail Trails)
