BIOS Problem?

Upon booting am receiving: "Bad BIOS Checksum
Starting recovery Floppy not found
CD-ROM not found"
etc

After several (increasing) tries PC eventually boots.

I have backed up (lost two HDDs in last year!) so am prepared for "something" to happen soon. Appreciate any information/cure.
Thanks.

Check that the CMOS battery isn't about to expire. If it is replace it then enter the bios check the settings are correct and save.

As it is eventually booting I suspect it's probably the battery

Error usually due to a knackered battery,
other and rarer causes are a bad shutdown, someone or thing editing the bios, using certain bios hacking software can cause this or possibly some sort of virus but unlikely in your case as it eventually boots.
