dell

dell ispiron 2650 32mb dedicated grafics card (nvidia geforce2) 512mb of ram and all updated drivers the error is a violation in render3dcore.dll

32MB on the video card may not be enough. Geforce2 should be sorta OK. I ran UTC on a 128MB Geforce2 and it was a bit of a bottle neck on my system (See below) but it worked.
I would bet you need to update your video card driver.
What CPU do you have? You have enough system RAM.

Have you read the For anyone who has bought UTC thread?

Have you tried asking your question in the Ultimate Trainz Support forum?

Can you post the following from running a dxdiag (Start>Run>dxdiag)

Is it true that your video driver is more than 3 years old?
I see that your 32m video RAM is "shared" with system RAM. Never a good thing.
Your CPU is fast enough.

yes it may be 4 years old beacause my laptop is 4 years old but the problem is a acess voilation in render3dcore.dll

im allowed to have a new laptop in 2 years if i can look after this one beacuse this s my 1st one inv got a desktop but the graphics are even worse and its intergrated

Have you tried installing a newer driver for your graphics card?

Plus IIRC Auran doesn't support Trainz running on laptops.

OK lets get this straight, you said your driver is the latest

i have already done that

but the diag shows this:

Driver Date/Size: 6/24/2003 17:32:00, 3343051 bytes

And then you said it may be out of date

yes it may be 4 years old beacause my laptop is 4 years old but the problem is a acess voilation in render3dcore.dll

Then in your last post you say the driver is the latest.

What is the real answer?

Andy:confused:

OK, still seems odd that it said you didn't, without being patronising... maybe check again.

If not I'm afraid I can't help.

If your desktop has a processor running @ 1.5 gig or above, it may be worthwhile fitting it with a graphics card if you have an AGP slot or even a spare PCI slot.
I run UTC with an Athlon 2gig chip & an Gforce 6200 graphics card.

The 6200 cards can be bought for as little as £40 from Ebuyer.

Kev.
