I have considered it, since the location of the lights causes some not-so-great issues within trainz since it cant occlude coronas with near geometry, a known limitation.

Only thing is, when you delete the train number and put your own in, it comes out looking like this

you need to lose focus of the loco by going to another camera view or possibly even just changing consist direction will fix that. When you load a session the numbers are applied, when you create the cab by selecting the train as your own the existing number is put in, if you then change the number you have to reload the cab, and this is simple as selecting something else or like i said maybe even changing the direction.
