Train 550 for Oyster Bay snakes through Long Island City yard on a fairly clear [for summer!] 1983 Friday afternoon, with the 163 still rocking its original factory number boards and P5A tooter. This eastbound will begin the parade of evening rush trains, evidenced by the Montauk train hot on the heels of 550, ready to bring the New Yorkers of Manhattan out to the Hamptons for the weekend.

Got a question I've been wondering for a while now, but what was the purpose for having the smaller fuel tanks on the BN unit?
