Japan

Nice video. I'm sure the guys and gals who live in the houses under the tracks won't be getting any quiet time with all those trains rumbling overhead. LOL!

All things are relative, though. Living close to tracks, you get used to the noise and hardly hear it after a while. Same for me when I was aboard ship. My rack was directly under three, 4-inch water pipes and a ventilation stack with the blower right above on the next deck.

Actually, housing being built under railway tracks is extremely rare to find, as they hardly comply with the extremely strict Japanese building and health laws and regulations in a variety of ways.

Most buildings placed under railway viaducts house shops, outlets, resturants, izakaya pubs and other non-residential, mostly commercial activities. Otherwise, most of the buildings found under viaducts (especially near industrial and port areas) are warehouses for a variety of goods. More recent "developments" may also include "rentable office spaces" and kindergartens and pre-schools.

Here are a few examples: Ameyoko shopping street in Tokyo (under Keihin-Tohoku Line tracks - the likely inspiration from the video above), near Tsurumai station in Nagoya (under Chuo East Line tracks) and near Tennoji in Osaka (under Osaka Loop Line tracks).

I love Street View in either Google Maps or Google Earth. Spend many hours at various times a week roaming the roads I used to drive up in Northern Honshu and Hokkaido. The three years I spent in Japan wasn't near enough.

That's pretty interesting that there are structures like that for real. I'm guessing that they have some type of noise reduction gimmicks or materials?

Here is the latest Icarus Shinkansen v2.0. TRS 2019 progress.

Still working on Icaruko Terminal Area in combination with other parts of Ikaruko Downtown. Made a nice Waterfront called Kobari Seaside. Here is a Terminal Station with the same name. This Terminal station provide quick access to various Ferry and Cruise Services within the Icarus Gulf. Also you can cath a ferry to ASO Island. Aso Island is a new project in this region that I will be working on with Duskeydusky. We will share some pics soon.

Also I did some redesign of some line allignments in Minami Icaruko. I show here some pics of the new stations *(no names yet). And last I did the first station on the Icaruko main line North of the Awaji tunnel into Icaruko. This little station has also no name yet.
