Icarus Shinkansen v2.0. Building Snapshot 2 is out:

Download Link via WeTransfer (Link stays up 6 days and then will be automatically deleted)

https://wetransfer.com/downloads/4e...9269491064b9c58066ccd98320210228134214/e21b9e

There are 2 .cdp's. One for TANE SP3 and up and one for TRS2019 Platinum and up.

I will post later this day some screenshots and point out what the major changes on the route are. The Icarus Main Line is now extended to about 9 a 10 Kilometer South of Kitabiko.

Have fun and don't forget my earlier warning to backup your own modded version of the route if you want to keep that.

ALSO:

Check in surveyor if there are any dependencies that are available for download. For the unkowns (again they are non-critical): chose edit route, and delete all missing assets from the menu then save under a new name.

What is new in Icarus Shinkansen v2.0. Building Snapshot 2?
(with screenshots)

- Enhancements of the lcarus Main Line just South of Kitabiko stations. More details on the 2 (yet) unnamed stations
- Other lines also extended (yet to be named)

- New Terminal Kitabiko Eki.

This is a large Terminal stations in Kitabiko giving you some options to terminate trainz. Not 100% finished (all trackmarks have to be done in future) but you can terminate trains yourself for now:

Love to see part from where I'm from, Ogikubo (Between Mitaka and Nakano)

Here are a few screenshots from me:

"It's spring 1987 - JNR's privatization is just around the corner. Morning rush hour, somewhere on the Chuo Line, between Mitaka and Nakano: an almost-empty TRTA 8000 Series, "borrowed" from the Hanzomon Line to act as a stop-gap until the first 05 Series trains enter service, runs towards Mitaka, and it's about to be overtaken by an orange 201 Series running a rapid service to Takao. Between the two, one of the few Chuo-Sobu Line Yellow 201s heads towards central Tokyo, packed with commuters, while in the background, a 183 Series can be seen rushing towards Shinjuku on one of the line's many "Morning Liner" services."

Hey Hirochi, I'm not sure how many more fictional and foreign S2 style trains you're going to make, but I just would like to let you know that I released some consists to the DLS. These are accurately based on the Eurostar, ICE, and Javelin high speed trainset formations in real life. Thank you for making these awesome models and for everyone else, enjoy these consists without having to make them yourselves! :)

P.S. That new fictional "JR Zero" Shinkansen train of yours somehow reminds me of the Chinese CRH380D (the Zefiro 380 variant), but more blue and unique.

Finally, after a sizeable amount of work - here is the completed 2nd DE10 pack: "Joyful trains and other JR-Group liveries"!

DE10joyful.png

Top row, from left to right: JR Hokkaido black livery unit 1690, JR Hokkaido Naebo works internal shunting loco (DE10 1741), JR Hokkaido new and old "norokko" liveries, JR East brown livery unit 1705, JR East "Nostalgic Wiew Train" livery and the "Sylpheed" livery and the JR Shikoku "Island Express Shikoku".
Bottom row, from left to right: JR West "Kinokuni Seaside" livery, "Okizumo Orochi" livery, Sagano Scenic Railway livery, JR Kyushu "Southern Cross" livery, "JNR-express-trains-style" and "Hyper-Saloon-783-Series-style" liveries for hauling "Ariake" express trains on non-electrified lines and the two variants of the "7-Stars-in-Kyushu-style" livery: black with golden or orange handrails.

These are already all avaible for download at my website. The individual download page for each locomotive can be reached by clicking on the paragraphs' titles.

So, let's get started:

JR Hokkaido DE10 1690

This locomotive is generally used as an "helper" on steam revival services, assisting venerable steam locomotives on the most difficult sections of various lines. As such, DE10 1690 was repainted in an all-black livery with white handrails and other body parts, directly inspired from the steam locomotives' one. It is mostly seen operating togheter with JR Hokkaido's C11 no°171, but it isn't uncommon for DE10 1690 to run some maintainance trains as well.

JR Hokkaido DE10 1741 - Naebo Works internal shunting locomotive

This unit is a dedicated shunting locomotive used by JR Hokkaido to move rolling stock within it's huge Naebo Works, the largest rail workshops in all of Hokkaido. Originally these duties were assigned to the much more compact DD16s (and earlier on to DD13s), but in 1997 the pair was replaced by a single surplus DE10 moved from Asashikawa depot - unit 1741.

As something of an "inside joke", DE10 1741 was repainted in a livery reminescent of the "HET" ("Hokkaido Express Train") one seen on the KiHa 281 and 283s that the locomotive had to shuttle between workshops. Being an internal shunting locomotive, DE10 1741 was never seen outside of JR Hokkaido's Naebo Works, as all of it' saftey systems had be removed, making it unable to operate on main line tracks.

In 2005, DE10 1741 was replaced by a surplus DE15 as the Naebo works' shunting locomotive, with the latter having been repainted in a yellow and dark gray livery based on the one of the "DMV", the dual mode vehicle (in short, a road/rail bus) intended to serve low-patronage lines, wich JR Hokkaido had been (and still is) developing for an awful lot of time.

The current whereabouts of DE10 1741 are unknown, but it was probably scrapped.

JR Hokkaido old and new "Norokko" liveries

These are used exclusively for JR Hokkaido's "Norokko" tourist trains, a set of a DE10 and (generally) four passenger cars converted from 50 Series coaches that are used interchangeably on three different services: Kushiro ****sugen Norokko (on the Kushiro Line), Ryuhuo Norokko (Senmo Line, only in the winter season) and the Mashike Norokko (on the Rumoi Main Line). The "Norokko" fleet of DE10s is formed of two units: nos. 1660 and 1661, both assigned to Kushiro depot.

Originally, when regular "Norokko" services began in the late 1990s, the locomotives (and the cars) were fitted in a rather "cold" white livery with blue and light green lines, wich was later replaced in the early 2000s by a warmer dark green and dark gold livery, wich is still worn by both locomotives to this day.

Trivia:
Originally, "Norokko" services, as sightseeing trains, had a commercial speed of only 30Km/h and as such were officially advertised as "the slowest trains in Japan". This was later increased to 40Km/h and finally to the "line speed" of 70Km/h to avoid interfering with other more "regular" services.

JR East brown livery unit 1705

Assigned to Takasaki Depot, unit 1705 was repainted in the brown livery originally carried by JNR's diesel locomotives before the introduction of the distinctive red livery with the DD51s in the early 1960s.

This unit is tasked to assist locomotives in JR East's "historic" fleet (both steam and electric as well) but can be also used for charter trains or, very much like JR Hokkaido's unit 1690, for maintainance duties as well.

JR East "Nostalgic Wiew Train" livery

One of the earliest "modern" tourist trains, the "Nostalgic Wiew Train" began services in 1990, running on the scenic Gono Line. The train was formed of three 50 Series coaches hauled by DE10 1204, repainted in a yellow and dark brown livery matching the coaches' one.

Services of the "Nostalgic Wiew Train" were relatively short-lived, ending in 1996 and replaced shortly after in 1997, by the much more frequent "Resort Shirakami" rapid trains run by specially converted KiHa 48 diesel multiple units (and later HB-300 hybrid MUs).

JR East "Sylpheed" livery

Depsite the very JR Hokkaido-esque livery, DE10 1701 is a JR East locomotive in all ways. This locomotive was assigned to haul the "Sylpheed" joyful train (a name derived from the spirits of the wind of germanic mythology), formed of a specially-converted 485 Series 3-car set AC/DC multivoltage electric multiple unit on non-electrified lines.

The Sylpheed train operated around Niigata prefecture, beginning services in 1990. Obviously on electrified lines the 485 Series opertaded under it's own power - DE10 1701 was coupled only when needed, such as for services on the non-electrified portions of the Ban'etsu Line or the Tadami Line.

In 2001, the Sylpheed 485 Series was restructured and renamed as the "No.Do.Ka." Joyful train, and a few years later services on non-electrified lines were ended as well. Finally, in 2017 the No.Do.Ka. was retired from service and subsequently scrapped.

DE10 1701 remained in use as the Sylpheed and later the No.Do.Ka. designated diesel locomotive until atleas 2002, when the former services on non-electrified lines were curtailed. In 2005 the locomotive was repainted in the standard DE10 red-and-white livery after an overhaul at JR East's Omiya works. It's current whereabouts are unknown, but it has been probably scrapped.

Besides acting as the dedicated diesel locomotive for both the Sylpheed and later the No.Do.Ka, DE10 1701 was also on other Joyful trains services, formed of converted passenger cars (usually 12 Series coaches) and also sometimes ran a few maintainance or even inspection trains as well.

JR Shikoku "Island Express Shikoku" livery

These locomotives were dedicated for the "Island Express Shikoku" wich began services in April 1987 as one of the first (if not the actual first) joyful trains introduced by the newly-privatized JR Group.
The train, wich ran all around Shikoku island (and sometimes also towards Honshu, via the Seto-Oashi bridge) was formed of lightly refurbished 50 Series coaches, painted in a light blue and white livery.

JR Shikoku had two DE10s assigned to the Island Express Shikoku - nos. 1014 and 1036 (with the former one being later replaced by DE10 1148) - all repainted in a light blue and white livery matching the coaches' one.

In 1996 the Island Express Shikoku was lightly refurbished, but as the age of the 50 Series coaches began to show, the train was retired in 1999, being replaced by KiHa 185 Series diesel multiple units, dubbed "Island Express Shikoku II".

The current whereabouts of the three DE10s assigned to the Island Express Shikoku is unknwon, probably after the end of the services those were repainted back in the standard DE10 red and greay livery and were used for a few years more until their eventual withdrawal and scrapping.

Trivia: for services towards Honshu, via the Seto-Oashi Bridge, the dedicated DE10s weren't used - their place was instead taken by an EF65 electric locomotive in the standard "DC-only" dark blue and cream livery.

JR West "Kinokuni Seaside" livery

Unit 1152 was assigned to haul the "Kinokuni Seaside", a tourist rapid service wich ran from Tennoji Station in Osaka to Shirahama Station on the Kinokuni Line. The train was formed of four passenger cars converted from three 12 Series coaches (one of wich was converted into a cab car, an extremely rare thing for Japanese railways) and a single 24 Series coach, wich was converted to a panoramic car, all painted in a matching blue, grey and orangeish-cream livery with white accents, colours deemded "typical" of the Nanki region (the southern portion of the Kansai area, wich the train served). The Kinokuni Seaside began services in 1999 and ran until August 2007.

After the withdrawal of the Kinokuni Seaside train, DE10 1152 was repainted into the DE10's standard red-gray livery and was returned to "conventional" shunting and maintainance services. It was spotted last year, being hauled by an EF65, in an almost pristine condition, a probable sign of a very recent overhaul wich means that DE10 1152 is, with all due probability, still in regular service.

JR West "Okizumo Orochi" livery

This locomotive is assigned to the "Okizumo Orochi" tourist train running on the Kisuki Line, running between Kisuki and Bingo-Ochiai stations via Izumoshi station. The Okizumo Orochi began operations in 1998, formed of two converted 12 series coaches and DE10 1161, all painted in a matching blue and white livery with 10-point star motifs (a liverty overall partially inspired by the famous "Night on the Galactic Railroad" novel by author Kenji Miyazawa).
Due to the popularity of the train, a second locomotive was repainted in the Okizumo Orochi Livery: DE15 2558, wich has since been used interchangeably with DE10 1161. Both locomotives are still in service in their "Okizumo Orochi" livery, and sometimes are also used for non-tourist duties, such as empty stock movments or maintainance trains.

JR West/Sagano Scenic Railway livery

While the famous Sagano Scenic Railway does own it's proper DE10, no.1104, JR West also has another DE10 fitted in the Sagano Scenic Railway's livery: this is DE10 1156, wich as a general matter is intended to actually replace DE10 1104 when needed. Unlike other locomotives in regular service, DE10 1156 is not stabled at a depot, but rather at the Kyoto Railway Museum! This is because when it is not used on the Sagano Scenic Railway, DE10 1156 is actually tasked with assisting or moving steam locomotives and other rolling stock to, from and within the museums' premises. Furthemore, like many other "special use" DE10s, DE10 1156 may also be commonly seen hauling maintainance trains or empty stock anywhere in the Kansai area.

JR Kyushu "Southern Cross" livery

This unit, No.1131, was assigned to haul the "Panorama Liner Southern Cross", a joyful train formed of six converted 12 Series coaches wich began services in 1987. Two locomotives were assigned to haul this train, both stabled to Oita depot and painted in a livery matching the coaches' one: ED76 78 for electrified lines and DE10 1131 for non-electrified lines.

The "Southern Cross" operated until 1996, when due to the old age, the coaches were withdrawn and scrapped, togheter with ED76 78. DE10 1131 was instead repainted into the standard red-and-gray livery and operated for a few years more on "regular" services until it was withdrawn and subsequently scrapped in 2001

JR Kyushu JNR-express-trains-style" and "Hyper-Saloon-783-Series-style" liveries

This is quite curious story that began in March 1987, when "Ariake" express services operated with 485 Series electric multiple units were extended from Kumamoto station to Siuzenji Station on the Hohi Main Line. This however posed a problem, as the Hohi Main Line had not been electrifed yet. To cover the final "stretch" it was decided to have a DE10 diesel locomotive haul the EMU back and forth from Kumamoto station.

DE10 1755 was choosen for the job and was thus subsequently repainted in a cream and dark-red livery matching the 485 Series' one. A generator car, converted from a standard 12 Series coach (wich however retained the standard blue livery with white lines), was also inserted in the formation (between the DE10 and the 485 Series) to provide electricity to the EMU, to keep interior lighting, air conditioning, door mechanisms and so on operating even on non-electrified lines.
Soon enough, the 12 Series generator car was replaced by the much more compact package offered by a Yo 8000 caboose, just one of the plethora of surplus cabooses made useless when conductors were abolished for freight trains in 1986.

Soon after, in 1988, JR Kyushu's brand-new 783 Series "Hyper Saloon" express EMUs began working many express services, among those, the "Ariake" ones. At the same time, another DE10 was assigned to these quirky services: unit 1756, wich was repainted in a whitle livery with red lines to match the new trains' one. For a couple of years, both 485 and 783 Series trains coexisted on Ariake services, being hauled by DE10s in respective matching colors, but it wasn't uncommon to see the JNR-livery DE10 hauling a 783 Series or vice-versa. Eventually, when Ariake services were standardized to the 783 Series, DE10 1755 was repainted in the standard red-and-gray livery for diesel locomotives and moved to less notable services. Meanwhile, "Hyper Saloon" livery DE10 1756 continued this particular service until 1994, when Ariake services were cut back to Kumamoto station. Like DE10 1755, DE10 1756 was also repainted in in the standard red-and-gray livery for diesel locomotives and moved elsewhere. Eventually, the Hohi Main Line was electrified in 1999.

JR Kyushu "Seven Stars in Kyushu"-style livery

Finally, the last locomotives of this pack.

These are part of a small select group of a few locomotives (anong those, there are units 1753, 1755 and 1756 - the latter two being the DE10s that hauled the "Ariake" on non-electrified lines) all of wich were repainted in a very dark brown livery with golden or orange handrails, based on the one of the famous "Seven Stars in Kyushu" luxury cruise train. These are actually intended to haul the Seven Stars' passenger coaches from stabling to the platforms at Hakata station and vice-versa as the train's propietary DF200-7000 diesel locomotive is stabled at different depot tha the cars'. However, due to the very infrequent schedule of the Seven Stars, the dedicated DE10s spend most of the time doing nothing at all, and are thus more commonly found hauling all kinds of empty stock, maintainance trains or even running other tourist trains as well.

Phew! That was a lot of work!
Now onto the "second hand buyers and industrial railways" pack!

Eh, i know. EU data protection regulations are a pain in the ass. As i say on the banner: "...I perfectly undestand how annoying this pop-up is, but I'm forced by law to have it anyway... "

Great work with this collection AlexMaria!! I hope you get to do their big brothers soon.

Thanks! Wich "big brothers" are you referring to? The heavy-duty DE11s?

Great stuff! Thank you! I am getting a 440 (404) on the last link JR Kyushu "Seven Stars in Kyushu"-style livery I tried going to the other Kyushu link and hitting the back button, but I could not find one labelled "Seven Stars".

Fixed it, i erroneously pasted the link twice. Now it should work.

Thank you! I wondered if it would be the black livery units. Now I know! I appreciate the quick fix, and all the units!
