Polish Narrow Gauge Railways

Well, tree's were fixed. However random track is still being placed around.
Evan! You don't have a lot of contents!!! Instal all contents from my contents list.

Now it is on DLS.
@zieba111: nice work! :)
Thanks :D

I can't read polish, so the content at this link:
http://www.trainzmaps.neteasy.pl/dow...d=7&rowstart=8
Is kind of redundant for me. What's the name of the content pack?

Hello zieba111.

I have had the pleasure of driving along your route and I must say you did a great job! The framerate along the route is perfect - except for some areas where the large cities are, but nothing worth complaining about - , the detail is very well cared of, and the overall realism of the route is stunning.

The only thing that somehow bothers me are the occasional "bumps" in the track; now I don`t say that those bumps shouldn`t be there - I know how a narrow gauge line looks and feels like - ;what I`m saying is that they shouldn`t be so proeminent, so hard.

Anyway, like I said, overall it is a wonderful route and you have my respect for that.

It is very hard do something like light bumps. But I just want show rocking in narrow gauge. I really like it. Thx for good words :)

I imported the .cdp from the link you have provided, but nothing has changed.

Come on!
There is a PKP-pliki.rar file. You must unpack it, and you will see:
 1. lista kuid.doc - there is all kuid list from the route, and hepful information for players
 2. PKW - contents list.doc - there is a links to every contents from my route
 3. PKP - Sytuation map.jpg - You can see schema of the route
 4. Polskie Koleje Waskotorowe.cdp
ATTENTION:
There is a problem with some contents (social buildings, depot, fuel places). Their author Jacek83218 fixed this problem. But I have to make some corrections to work correctly my route, and I must upload fixed map on DLS. Now only in TRS2004 is good. When I upload newest version of my map, it will work correctly in every version of Trainz.

I will inform You, when I upload map.

Yes I have done that but I am still missing some content.

Please send me, what you need.

ATTENTION:
I send now fixed file to DLS: POLSKIE KOLEJE WASKOTOROWE v1.01
I think, it will be availible for few days.

Thats the problem, i dont know what I am missing. The example track still fills out some spots where I think road & fence splines are placed. And maybe some splines for brush.

OK. Download every content from my list, on by one. Then You will see.

Maybe You do it wrong. When You download pack: Kościerzyna -Czersk from: http://www.trainzmaps.neteasy.pl/downloads.php?cat_id=6 you will see some files. One of them name is dodatki.
There is VTS roads; it name is Ulice VTS.cdp. And you need it.

I note that the creator of this route has confirmed that the uneven track is a 'feature'.

Whilst the bumps and kinks are more or less prototypical they are also problematic. This is because, in Trainz, the rolling stock body slavishly follows the rise and fall of the bogey pivot points - whilst in 'reality' the inertia of the body in relation to its centre of gravity (the centre of gravity of the body that is, as opposed to the centre of gravity of the whole item of rolling stock) means that it rises and falls (for example) in relation to the counteracting action of both bogeys (whether 4-wheel or 2-wheel).

Putting it graphically - if the front bogey drops into a dip in the track, the front of the body follows it down a fraction of a second later (inertia) as, at the same time and rotating about its a centre of gravity, it 'sits down' slightly on the rear bogey which then reacts (through the suspension) by pushing the rear up slightly. The front bogey, rising out of the dip, then reacts against the still falling front of the body which 'sits down' on the bogey for a fraction of a second (inertia again) before rising (and rotating about its centre of gravity) 'sits down' again on the rear bogey ...

... well, anyway (bearing in mind all these complimentary and counteracting forces and motion are dependent on the items length, weight distribution and velocity), uneven track is not such a good idea in Trainz because the resulting motion of the rolling stock is unrealistic and distracting.

I'm trying to figure out a way to obviate the uneven track in this (otherwise excellent) route (in TR2009) without relaying the whole damn lot ... might let you know if I work one out.

Hello b9k9kiwi. The way to solve this is to make the bumps and kinks a little less hard. I did this in my routes and the train "feels" just like in reality. Here`s a video from one of my routes to see what I`m talking of:

Try swittching to HQ and full screen to see how the train reacts to bumps.

Or if you preffer standard gauge:

...

I have been working on this route to 'fix' the harsh track undulation feature. The undulations are produced by grouping three spline points at varying heights close together. I have found that by deleting the two 'outer' spline points the issue is resolved insofar as the general track undulation (typical of this kind of narrow gauge route) is still evident - but less pronounced and, in my view, quite realistic.

Of course, a good many of the trackside objects, trackmarks, invisible signals (etc.) are lost in the process. This does not offend me as I adapt routes I know I will enjoy to a sort of 'no place in particular' and generally without mileposts and prototypical trackside signs (for example) but with some trackside signalling.

There is a need to replace the occasional 'lost' set of points and also straighten track here and there.

It's a somewhat long and drawn out process (there are an awful lot of spline points in the route) but I am finding it well worth it - it is a terrifically good example of route building.
