PRR Screenshots

I don't know why I let US Pa State and Federal Taxes get my panties all waded up in a bunch ... but I have been frantic for a week (perhaps I should have called Sethmcs).:hehe:

I will be back in action in a day or two.

Anyone requiring PRR information and trackcharts IM me.

I have given one person a preliminary (not complete) Horseshoe Route CDP, and several others will be contacted shortly.

I need 2 dayz sleep !

Why does anyone like the "Horseshoe" anyway ? It's just another stupid bend in the RR tracks.:hehe:

And who else knows all about the "Muleshoe Curve" ? I will answer any questions (not that I know it all ... but I know quite a teeny little bit about everything, and am willing to share).

I can't enjoy it, unless I electrify the "Curve" (and buy a newer Trainz version) ... Odd Fact: The G's being built in Altoona, yet overhead catenary never existed west of Harrisburg.

That looks pretty wicked whitepass, sure hope you get around to releasing it:)

edit; should probably read the freeware section first before i comment...

I have been tweeking track and turnouts, placing frogs, and Low Target Switchstands ... my curves and relief curves look pretty good ... I was running the A23 JetSled from Altoona to Gallitzin, a total blur, at 691 mph, in side of 62 seconds.

I will have to make a short Fraps video of it.

WoooooOOOOooosh :hehe:

Some interesting videos:
Australalia Locos from Juniata ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PB82IxRlzFc&feature=related
When Steam still ruled: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cx5tHB_aw4g
Horseshoe Curve, before the fence: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNrPq0Li3P4&feature=related

I have reworked the Altoona 17th Street area from Slope to Works. Changes were that my switches were much too sharp ... now I measure a crossover from end to end and make the crossover at least 250' in length, or each switch @ 125' long point to frog.

I learned something new from looking at Handlaidtrack's thread

On both ends of my route ... instead of using Portals ... I have installed 250m Radius, 8 tracked, Balloon-Staging Yards ... that can handle and store four, 1 mile long trains, having a 140 car capacity, for 15,000 ton trainz on each track.

I got this idea from: Handlaidtrack

This route is almost ready to be E-Mailed to Scratchy ... so we can compare details

I don't install textures until a project is complete ... for how are you going to be able to see the gridwork to adjust terrain up and down ... I hate wireframe mode.

Well, that's good, but how about a portal-loop approach you could have a loop for trains you want to cycle round again, and a portal to make and remove trains.

Good stuff cascade, does that mean you've finished all of the Yards in Altoona? How far up and over the hill were you going again?

The 10,000 baseboard route will be the one with all the elaborate yard details.

I have put in some basic yard details on this smaller Fishlipsatwork DEM which is designed for low end PC's. The route goes from Altoona to Cresson at present, the East Slope.

It has RTS track, so let me know if that is a problem.

The 10,000 baseboard route has MP Wood v2, and MP Rusty track, as it curves best in turnouts.

I seem to remember a tutorial about how to fool AI Drivers, to keep them from stopping and then reversing back on a track, and going in reverse on that forward track. I am trying installing junctions near the offending junction where the AI Drivers stop then reverse.

Any one know of this tutorial that I have seen a hundered times ?

It also had many topics on how to work with turnouts and signals.

EDIT: I think I found it: http://trains.0catch.com/tutorial.html

I'm loving the screen shots and I agree with the texture painting. It is better than the wireframe mode. I'm just wondering here, but I've seen a lot of freaking awesome (that's the technical term) projects that became vaporware. I'm a major PRR fan and I must know: will this and/or Altoona Steam become vaporware? It seems too good to be released as all of the other projects (i.e. Amtrak budd cars, Conny's content, PRR K4.s 3768, [insert other examples here].) I'm not trying to sound like a pissed off gimmie pig, but when you announce a project waaaaaaay in advance, you should follow through to the release, or give them to someone who can finish them, before leaving the community. But that is just my opinion.

I will release it ... I could give it to you right now ... I gave a preliminary CPD to a very, luck un-named person ... Scratchy and RGCX are next ... then all the rest of you will get it.

I have two routes.

One is a smaller Fishlipsatwork DEM from Altoona to Cresson (the East Slope). It is designed for lower end PC's.

It has no textures, no folliage, and few buildings. It is @ 98% done ... and I am installing aerial flyways to view AI trains looking down from above.

The other more incomplete DEM is @ 10,000 baseboards and I will resume that one after I release the first Fishlipsatwork DEM.

Lately I haven't been making much daily progess on it as I would like to ... I have burnt out a bit ... but keep me on my toes, and do pester me ... and that will help re-stir my interest.

I supose that my main concern is that I am using RTS track, and many may not be able to aquire it ... if it ever disappears.

Would you prefer that I use Philskene's MP Woodv2 track ... and Joseppav's MP Rusty ... as well as Koleje Roz, Koleje Drevo ?

Do these tracks work in 09/10/12 ?

Ah. I like you style. :D I didn't want to seem downing, but I (as well as a lot of un-talented content creators) just get tired of waiting for nothing. So how close it is to being sent for texturing?

Fred

Realisticly ... I could get it to you by June 1st, or that week in June ... if I really haul donkey.

If I gave it to you now ... incomplete ... you would have to get the next upated version as I complete it. As I am not yet satisfied with it.

I kind am shying away from trees and textures as i am still moving baseboard grid work up and down ... and I do not know what assets common people have, and what is compatable in 09/10/12.

What type of track does everyone prefer ?

Tunnelhill and SF Interlocking (Sugar Furnace) is comming along nicely.

SF Tower was completly leveled by a steam locomotive boiler explosion, which resulted in the tower operator and loco crews fatalities, in the early 1900's.

It is really hard to give a wide angle FOV without distorting screenshots ... UN Interlocking covered a vast area

It's ok. I don't have a problem waiting as long as it gets out. That was my problem. Time makes great things, and as this route looks now, this will be one of those things! So please take your time!

Fred

P.S. I learned that the hard way with my repaints! :p
