As part of my attempt to simulate RAF Driffield I have done this small housing estate, one of 4 attached to the airfield. The actual houses are red brick 1940s MOD standard houses but I can't find ahy on the DLS so these are stand ins.

    Ooh, very nice there R3.

That link to Rail Blue does look washed out. I have a scan of the page from the BR Design Manual, and the sampled values for BR Rail Blue BS381C 114 are HSV 128:240:47, or RGB 0:81:100. I guess that would be appropriate for an ex-work locos. Certainly as the blue got dirtier and exposed to sunlight the green tones did seem to become more apparent.

Thanks for that Euromodeller, I have replaced the houses on both of the two estates and they look much more appropriate.

The BR blue values that I've used for my reskins are:
    R 0.0
    G 67.0
    B 76.0
    html 00434c

This version is in use for the Class 25, 44, 45, 46 locos, class 107, 116, 117, 121 DMUs and Mk2C and Mk3A coaches. It would be nice to see these locos match that.

You can almost feel the heat and smell the pungent, acrid, choking fumes of the furnace just in behind the Classes 20 and 17 shunters as they lead a set of torpedos to the casting plant at BSC Penween Works

Nightstar, The train that never was to be...
In an alternate reality where Nightstar actually got going we see 92040 passing Ashford with a full length Nightstar consist from Waterloo International towards Dollands moor where a second 92 will be attached to the rear for passage through the Chunnel.

Great shot Rodbasin, love the weathering on the Mk1.

    Hi Paul

Those RGB values are where I started, but PBR textures look somewhat different and I'm working through how best to make the textures sit well with non-PBR stock. I've spent a few hours now experimenting and I think I'm just about happy with this:

This uses the RGB values you've specified, but with an AO bake overlay in my image editor (Corel Photo-paint) set to subtract 100%.

Looks spot on to me, you can see it's slightly darker than the mk1s which look a touch too light to me personally.

Looks good to me to - how does it sit against TMZ06003's BR Blue project reskins - to me they were always the gold standard pre PBR.

BR Blue line up, for comparison.

To my eye, and on this monitor, your new one looks like the ex-works paint job in that lineup. What happens if you desaturate it just a little bit?

Thanks for the input everyone. Tried desaturating by around 20% but, to my eye, it didn't make a lot of difference. I've had another play around this morning, and, although conventional wisdom seems to be that there's no red component in Rail Blue, adding a bit of red gets me closer to other models. I'm now at RGB 28 60 70 (sampled from one of the existing 47 models) and I think I'm happy enough with it now:
