Thanks both

Painted the bogies and sorted the domino front-

I should add that the pbrmetaldetail textures are pretty basic and hand painted at the moment- I'm waiting for Paul Hobbs to finish his excellent updated tutorial before I start playing with Quixel Mixer. IMO it's well worth adding the detail map.

Well that's coming on! It's subjective, but the livery looks slightly too green (although that said, the version of BR blue I've been using for years has a definite green bias.)

I'll be interested to see this model side by side with the new N3V version of the 47.

Thanks for the feedback on the colour. Did a test in 'Rail Blue' as per Wikipedia and it just looks too blue IMO, and not what I remember:

Went to Ocean Blue, as per the ral chart link and moved the AO into the parameters map (where it should be), and it's almost identical to where I started (there's a small circle of my original colour just below the cab window, forming the curve of the yellow):

I think I'm more comfortable with ocean blue but it is possibly a bit light so I'll continue to experiment. As you'd expect, PBR colours can look quite different depending on the lighting/environment settings. Some weathering will make a difference- the 31, which I'm also experimenting with PBR textures, uses the same base colour:

(I'm not happy with the underlying glossiness of the paint on the 31 so still plenty to do on both)

Cheers

Couple quick, not-so-glamourous shots from my edited Duchy Days route.....removed Penween ECC and replaced it with a custom inspired BSC site, complete with repainted Janus', 14's, and a couple of 17's, as well as a bunch of prototypical clutter usually found in steel mills

Great shots all!

@Rumour3, yes I'd agree that the Wikipedia referenced blue is far too light, but the Ocean Blue looks, to me at least, spot on. I can just make out the circle of your original colour but I think Ocean Blue is certainly the closest match I've seen in game.

Either way, it's shaping up to be an absolute beauty!

Cheers,

PLP

Ooh, very nice there R3.

That link to Rail Blue does look washed out. I have a scan of the page from the BR Design Manual, and the sampled values for BR Rail Blue BS381C 114 are HSV 128:240:47, or RGB 0:81:100. I guess that would be appropriate for an ex-work locos. Certainly as the blue got dirtier and exposed to sunlight the green tones did seem to become more apparent.

The BR blue values that I've used for my reskins are:
R 0.0
G 67.0
B 76.0
html 00434c

This version is in use for the Class 25, 44, 45, 46 locos, class 107, 116, 117, 121 DMUs and Mk2C and Mk3A coaches. It would be nice to see these locos match that.

You can almost feel the heat and smell the pungent, acrid, choking fumes of the furnace just in behind the Classes 20 and 17 shunters as they lead a set of torpedos to the casting plant at BSC Penween Works

In an alternate reality where Nightstar actually got going we see 92040 passing Ashford with a full length Nightstar consist from Waterloo International towards Dollands moor where a second 92 will be attached to the rear for passage through the Chunnel.
