Hello. I am new to these forums so don't moan if i ask a dumb question.

Why does TRS2006 lag like hell on my pc!
Graphic Card stuff
Geforce 2 MX/MX 400
Memory: 64mb
PC stuff
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 CPU 1.60ghz (1600 mhz)
Operating system: Microsoft Windows XP home edition with service pack 2.

I hope you can help, thanks in advance

Just about everything you describe is causing stuttering. The processor is too slow and the graphic card doesn't have enough RAM and went out with the dinosaurs.

Basically, the specs on the TRS2006 box are VERY conservative, and as has been stated by Paul, they will not run trainz well. The only solution, I am afraid, is an upgrade of one kind or another.

Having had Trainz on a 1.5 rig before, I can assure you that if you max out the RAM in your machine, you will be able to play Trainz just enough to really frustrate yourself!

I know it's tough to hear....but it's time to spend money on a new PC.

That'll do pig, that'll do......

The last time I played with a Geforce 2 mx was way back in 2001,Geforce range is now into the 9 series, time to spend some cash.

Here's what I have in my system, I'll recommend it for both 06 and TC:

Intel Pentium 4 3.2 Ghz
2GB Ram
ATI Mobility Radeon X600 (256 MB)

seeing as your system seems a bit old, I'd reccomend a hard drive upgrade as well.

2 to 2.5 gigs of memory would help to start, have a look at Tomshardware.com http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-cards,1965-6.html

basically any video card at the 3850 level or better is recommended the MX 400 is at the bottom of the page.

cpu well toms again

http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/processors/3d-studio-max-9,369.html

your cpu is about one third the speed of the slowest cpu on the chart.

Then on top of that your motherboard would limit you if you upped the memory and the video card, and the power supply almost certainly would be too low. The case probably doesn't have enough fans to keep any upgraded hardware cool enough.

You can probably reuse the power supply cable.
