A little note for those with XP and Zone Alarm

you can't access the internet, simple as that. My mum's computer is stuck with this.

I have this update with no effect all's working fine.

I have found on two of my Daughters computers the Firewall settings ( internet zone security ) had been reset to high & blocked net access.After setting it back to medium access was again possible.Not sure if the update reset it as we didn't change it ourselves

I ran into this with one of my computers at home, and 2 at work. On all three the setting was at high, and bumping it back down to medium got everything running again. Took me a while to figure it out at first, as I could ping everywhere, and was getting good DNS action, so the only thing that was being blocked was http traffic. That's when I figured I'd disable zone alarm, and there it was...
 
Thanks alot for the info. I usualy download stuff in the night when I sleep, so one morning the computer had restarted after Windows had automaticaly installed the new update, and the internet was blocked. I was going nuts trying to find out what the problem was. In pure desperation I just shut my firewall of to see if it was the problem, and voila! Internett existo. It's good to finally know what the problem is, thanks alot dude!
