USA Pics

A LE&E 2-8-8-2 thunders by the camera with a heavy drag freight on the LE&E's Northern Division. Meanwhile, on the high line, a Central Vermont local waits for the LE&E freight to clear the diamonds back in the town of Gardner, Vermont.

The LE&E Northern Division was built by the Boston Pittsburgh and Western in an effort to break the Boston and Maine's hold on traffic heading west from northern New England. Working with the Maine Central, LE&E trains would travel north to Gardner, where they would be handed off to the MEC to make the rest of the trip to Portland, Bangor, and other points in Maine and New Hampshire. While fairly busy during the drag freight era, starting in the 1930's, faster western connections made the line semi-redundant from a MEC perspective, and little on-line traffic meant that the LE&E had little use for the line other than a bridge route. However, termination of the B&M/MEC haulage agreement in the early 1950's caused more traffic to be routed via the LE&E connection, allowing the line to remain somewhat active until the creation of Guilford and the abandonment of most western MEC lines, causing the abrupt termination of the Northern Division.

Damn!! Beautiful shot!! Where'd you get that sky?

I agree! How you do that?

Thanks guys, it is called "cielo 44". I don't remember where I got it, but I think it's on the DLS. I did do a fair amount of messing around in the Environmental Settings in surveyor to get the bright orange sky and shadowed locomotive.

Just pics of the skyline in my edited City and Country USA 2 route, I need something to run GO Transit on while my other routes are under construction!

dudeman did you need to quote all 3 of those pics on the same page?

yeah its a uboat connected to that 'cause why not. after all, the shots I take are in some alternate universe so anything's possible. hell, there's a MILW GP40 connected to a CR Uboat connected to NS 911. more realistic than like 15 switcher steam locos strung together I suppose
