USA Pics

Just 2 shots of a CN Potash train on the Chicago Sub...This just left Fond du Lac and is on its way south towards Chicago with 2 CN ES44DC work horses

Working uphill on Byron

Very nice shots there, ;)

The return of a classic ...

Another day, another train

Let the intercontinental madness begin!

I've lately found myself in the interesting situation of being an American, but having absolutely no clue what American railroads are like (I guess living in Germany for five years kind of gets to you after awhile). So as not to incriminate myself, I've managed to procure some American bits from the annals of the internet and have put a few screenies together.

A desert morning... you're asleep in your humble abode, namely a cave whose owner possesses the inability to keep it clean. A slaptop, a mile long CatV cable, an ACME drawing board, a couple cases of root beer, and a few cameras procured by mugging local nature photographers. A few cactus wrens start squabbling as you wake up to what you otherwise think will be a peaceful morning, until the dawn's silence is split by the clatter of Dash-9's heading to Phoenix with a rake of boxcars. Then you remember: It's time to go railfanning.

Hi all,

As an Australian, you don't see many American trains roll by :p So I am needing help finding out what 'company's' go where and what routes I should download to run like the prototype. I have downloaded some content already, mostly from the RRMods site. I have also downloaded the CSX Saginaw Sub (IIRC). But since this is a screen shots forum, if anybody can help, just send me a PM. And here's my screen shots :p:

Your close, CN owns the Wisconsin Central now. CN was using WC's locomotives to pay back horsepower to CSX for a while. It was usually SD-45's but thats close enough.

Hi Tom
For freight, most railroads use their own locomotives but do use locomotives from other railroads like these

For rolling stock, go crazy! You can use any railroad and it'll look fine.

For passenger
Use the same railroad for both locomotives and rolling stock. Amtrak's the major.
