Wow, that looks amazing! (As all your shots from this route always have).

Cheers,

LIRR Train #507 being led by GP38-2 along with some P-72 and P-75 coaches snakes through the freight yard at Fresh Pond. This is a Lower Montauk Train bound for Long Island City, with it's journey beginning at Oyster Bay. c. 1994.

Two days later, the engine consist has been changed to include a AC4400CW and a WC SD45. Train EPGBO (Empire Mine to Green Bay) pulls eastbound through Marinette with close to 100 loaded Conrail cars. The Wisconsin Central will move the train from Green Bay for delivery to the C&NW at Butler, Wisconsin later in the day. The train will then run to Proviso Yard outside of Chicago, where it will be relayed to the Indiana Harbor Belt for delivery to Conrail.

As an old GP9 shuffles empties around the tracks around the Pleasants Power Station, a few SD45s, an SD38, and a Penn Central Uboat bring some new coal in to replenish the plants supply.

MAN that's gorgeous!

Here's GSS train M386 cresting the hill at Abner Gap... After dropping back into the Russell Fork Valley, he'll attack the western face of Big Sandy Ridge, which is a sustained 1.8% grade. Luckily, he's only about 4,000ft today, having set off 56 cars in Birchleaf Yard.

The next morning, an export coal train winds off the Old Main and onto Track 2.
