A trio of LE&E SD35s handles 2nd NY-4 in June, 1967. NY-4 was a priority Detroit - New York train, at this point carrying TOFC, auto parts, finished autos, and perishables eastward. At Elmira, the train will be partially reshuffled, losing the front end block of TOFC in lieu of more perishables inbound from Buffalo. The train will then head south to terminate in the LE&E's Jersey City yards.

Empties descend the 2% grade on the Big Springs Loop, a design somewhere between Tehachapi and the CP loops. This massive spiral allows trains to ascend or descend some 40 meters to overcome the radical elevation changes present in the mountains. The trestle that leads trains down into the loop is visible in the background.

On another day in mid 1967, we again catch NY-4, this time with a mixed bag of four-axle power. GP35 1532 leads a U25B, GP30, and another GP35 eastbound towards Elmira, Scranton, and New York. There's no extra sections of NY-4 today, so this train's likely hovering at around 100 cars.

Oh, Justin, you're spoiling us. GTW straight 40s? Absolute kings. Great stuff as always!

I gotta dirty these 50s and the rest of the fleet up. All in time, I suppose.

CSX Y322 from Hialeah to the Downtown Spur. I chased the real thing a couple days ago, I felt curious to play around with the physics of the game and see how reproducible the switching is in Trainz. Much to my pleasure, it felt convincingly realistic. A lot of the moves make so much sense when you have to do them too. Interestingly I noticed a change in terrain near Sun Gas, that given the current PSR consisting (long cuts at 2 switches/week) provides for a neat challenge working the industry (uphill shoves!). The GP40-2 in charge of 16 cars, 1000-1100 tons of train is on its knees at times too. Anyhow Family & Son is the only fairly drawn out customer while the others lie on blank baseboard land. But it was a fun run, and I had classic Miami music playing on my machine in the B/G.

Still can't get TRC to work for some bloody reason though.

Returning back to Iris. Scrap from the first two online customers is blocked on the north side of the train due to tonnage and also to keep the EOT in the same place much of the time.
