my favorite locomotive is the mighty N&W A 1218 4-6-6-2 (I think

then N&W J 611 4-8-4

after that Southern PS4 4-6-2

after that is Santa FE 3751 4-8-4

the Union Pacific 844 or 8444 4-84

then finally southern Pacific 4449

then Milwaukee Road 261 (Steve Sanbderg promised me a cab ride some day... )

then Alabama Byproducts Co. no. 4046 (one of the steam locos we have at the museum and the one closest to operational status),

then 4449,

then Frisco 1522,

then the Big Boys,

then the Southern PS4s,

then the N&W Y, A, and J classes,

then everything else!

This is my favorite topic now.
My top 5 favorites are.

1. The B&O's Royal Blue (below is a picture of her I believe)

2. Sp 4449 in Daylight Limited scheme.

3.then N&W J 611 4-8-4

4. the very rare American 2-2-2 ( similar to below but with some modifications)

5. Western American 4-4-0

Some runners up include the:
British 4-6-2 LNER Mallard #4468

Well i have a favorite Engine from Almsot every(Aussie) state...
First my Favorite Engine is the NSWGR D59 Class

#2 Favorite Engine is the VR K Class.

#3 Engine is the SAR 700 Class.

THEN #4 is the QR C17 Class.

But then of Course I love almost every engine

D&RGW K-27 class no. 463. I rode behind it on my first trip over the Cumbres and Toltec perhaps ten years ago, and for the next 3 years thought it was the 453...now I believe that either I got it wrong or they had repainted it for a special(not sure on that one--I think they've only redone it as 455, but not as 453). Anyway, I've been back to Antonito to see it in the shop several times, and now it's the next engine they're returning to service!

2 NKP 765 (just 15 miles from my house)
3 N&W A class
4 Virginian USA Class
5 Pennsy K class

There's an oxymoron for you. By definition a simple is not a compound and vice versa. :hehe:

Lehigh Valley T-2s of course!

Lehigh Valley's Workhorses, before dieselization.
Funny thing about LV steamers. In Sayre PA where the 'Big Shops' were, it was said that 5 minutes after the last LV steamer went cold, the Sayre roundhouse was torn down:hehe:
These beasts didnt last long, but they put their best "driver" forward

i have a large bit of family heritige from sayre, and i have been to the old roundhose site. some of the rubble is still there, but, the track and all is gone.
