Seems a shame to do this to a Caboose

Maybe, but I would rather see that than see some of the ones that are left to the elements. At least it gets preserved and can maybe be something else in the future. There is a unique UP caboose in Cascade, ID that is just sitting there with broken windows, eventually to be lost to nature. Sad.

There was a similar one left to rust away in Lawrence, MA at the end of the Canal Street branch. The rest of the tracks were long gone by then and there it sat slowly getting more and more vandalized until it was carted away for parts. From what I heard; someone bought it with good intentions but never did anything with it.

Here is the one in Cascade, if I can post it. It is not giving me the toolbar, so I will have to post the link, but it is in the Trainz Gallery, so not far to go. I do hope they will get these forums working again soon.http://images.n3vgames.com/trainzportal/mytrainz/606034/screenshots/363990/1000/UPcaboose.jpg

Man if only I could roll that baby up to my house.....:hehe:

Alas, my yard is to small for it......Well it was a nice thought while it lasted........:'(

That's in far better shape than the one in Lawrence was ever. Maybe someone owns it or has the intention to buy it and repurpose it. That would be a shame if the caboose ended up like the one in Lawrence.
