Disappointment

I have never been so disappointed with a downloaded program
Waisted my download limit of 70 Gig trying to download this program and still can't even start the sim
A DVD might be a better option for me but can't find a working site with the option to even ask for the discs
All the trainz sites seem to just send you in circles of non operating sites
Can't even find a site to ask for my money back as I haven't been able to get a working copy to use

Alternatively you can contact our helpdesk at http://support.trainzportal.com/

Welcome to Trainz Vicdriver.

What version are you trying to download and where from? as you have posted in the Model Railway forum, which is for an old version. Looking at your Time Line it's probably Trainz Plus you are trying to install, which is in the TRS22 section.

Looks like an issue with the Online Installer, need plenty of space on your C drive as irrespective of where you install it, Trainz needs to unarchive everything before it installs.

There are no DVDs for modern versions only digital downloads for TANE, TRS22 and Trainz Plus the downloads are at MyTrainz, bottom left, if you require Trainz Plus it's the Trainz Plus download, you get the option to either do an online install or download the full Off line Installer, which In my experience is better and you have the full installer you can keep if you need to reinstall.

MyTrainz link is at top of forum or here https://www.auran.com/planetauran/portal.php
The Off line installer is in a just over 10GB zip file so needs extracting after downloading. https://www.auran.com/planetauran/portal.php I'm pretty sure with most browsers the download should resume if anything goes wrong.

DVDs unfortunately are now pretty much obsolete, new PCs mostly don't even have DVD drives or even Blue-Ray.

I sympathise over the Download cap, a few years back I was stuck with 10GB per month due to having to use 3G as no reliable landline Internet, now I have moved into a Town It's unlimited.

I manged to download a copy of TRS22 offline-Installer with success
Have plenty of disc space and a 4 gig processor so won't run with very high specs

Managed to get it running and now the steep learning curve

One thing I have discovered very fast is the fact you can stop a train on a 1 in 50 downhill grade by just shutting off the throttle
Am I doing something wrong or haven't set things up right

I was a suburban and mainline driver for 30 years and it takes a hell of a lot more to stop a train on those sort of grades
Trying to hold a train still on those grades with just the independent brake would be a challenge

thanks for the help

You can also configure train engine specs so that they take forever to stop - it's totally configurable per engine spec. You can also swap engine specs for each loco you use by opening the Properties editor.

Hey mate,

Are you still using the DCC throttle controls or the "Cab Mode" controls, toggleable in the bottom right by the 3 dots?

I can promise you most of the models in trainz don't stop on a dime if you are using cab mode - my model of the Seymour Line (I'm going out on a limb saying that "Vicdriver" and an Aussie would know where that is ;)) has a 1600t Apex with an X and a T just barely making it up the top of Heathcote and barely able to hold the train on just the train brake or the dynos
