do Faulty have a spyware and virus

'Faulty' just means that there is some bug in the content's config file that is causing issues that prevents it from working properly in Trainz (usually the content creator put an extra space or character where it shouldn't be accidentally). Bascially, the content is broken and needs to be fixed. It doesn't mean it's infected with malware or a virus.

However, like all computer files Trainz content can be infected with viruses or malware, especially if you've downloaded it from a third-party site, although content on the DLS would be extremely safe due to N3V's strict scanning of uploaded content, there is always that remote risk it could still be infected (this is why the 'White Pages' have a disclaimer about viruses and malware), so you download at your own risk, no matter how remote.

Content Manager cannot detect that sort of thing though, as that is not what it is designed for; only antivirus or antimalware software can.

Malware needs to be an executable file. So .exe, .jav etc. Trainz content is just basically a data file that is read by TRS19 etc. so basically you're safe as far as I know it is not possible to infect a data file.

Having said that some assets do have an HTML component and I would expect this to be interpreted by the operating system so theoretically it depends what is allowed in the html code.

Cheerio John

HTML assets can only access web pages in the Trainz Wiki or in these forums. They cannot link to an external web site that might contain malware or viruses.

A spammer or hacker would have to post a malicious link in a forum post or create a new Trainz Wiki page with the link and then create and upload (to the DLS) a HTML asset that provided a link to the post or page. Not impossible but unlikely considering the effort that would be required.

To add to the information on the HTML assets. HTML assets use a minimal version of HTML that doesn't support a lot of the modern scripting capabilities or the ability to contact the outside of Trainz and is meant to support and display information within Trainz. If someone wrote an HTML asset that attempted to contact the outside world, it wouldn't work, and they would be SOL.
