You have started a journey that will be never ending once you've got some of the basics under your belt.
Before you get too overwhelmed, we recommend you practice a bit using the tutorials. These will teach you the basics how to drive and where things are located.
There is no serial number directly in the program. This is located in your My Trainz account that you log in automatically into when you start up the program.
Assets are installed using Content Manager, which is found under the Manage Content button on the Launcher. This is the place where you not only install your content either locally but also where you install content from the Download Station (aka the DLS). There are many features, and this part of the program is quite complex and powerful. A quick check showing just content on the DLS by Danish authors reveals 872 assets available for download. In total, there is currently 675K - plus assets available for download for free use.
You can create your own routes in TRS22 by using Surveyor. Here you can sculpt the landscape add in trees, buildings, track, etc., and built your own world to suit your liking. This aspect is more or less like owning your own gigantic model railroad with virtually no limitations except your imagination and power of your computer, but before you get overpowered, I do recommend trying the tutorials first as mentioned above.
