Just managed to get back to Trainz
Am using Trainz Plus with a Vortex comp with an SSD drive.
When opening a session or route, region etc. I noticed that several of the icons on bottom of screen are showing green bar and there is the rotating circle which I presume to be downloading item/s.
Programme runs and I can operate session chosen. I have had programme running overnight + Is this normal in that there is a large d/l taking place or something wrong? Assistance appreciated.

The white circling cursor and green moving bar is a problem we've reported and not unique to your setup. Some people have the green bar while others do not, and most of us have the white spinning circle. I noticed last night that the white circle disappeared from my copy of Plus. I don't know about today because I haven't loaded the program to find out.

The green bar on the icons indicate that content is installed payware. There is a button to show the legend of what everything means on the user interface to the left of the Sort By: box. It looks like 3 vertical dots and 3 vertical bars.
