Tip: Easy way to speed up your editing or rail ops when graphics starts to bogs down

When I am in Surveyor sometimes the graphics starts to bog down slowing my editing efforts down.

If there are a lot of scenery items then things will slow down considerably as you move along. FYI a lot of your graphics card effort is devoted to calculating and displaying the correct shadow for each object as you move along so the more denser the scenery the more things slow down. One quick way to speed things up is to turn off shadows in the Trainz Settings in your launcher. Turning off shadows will speed up things considerably. Here is a screenshot that shows the setting to turn off:

Is that one of the settings that requires a re-start of the program before it takes effect? Or can it be done from within Surveyor without interrupting your work?

.

It requires a game restart to take affect.

Another setting that helps with speeding up Trainz is turning off the 'process objects behind camera' - no game restart required for that.
