GPS: Turn Left. Recalculating . . . Recalculating . . .

Here we see the aftermath of what happens when someone puts too much trust in their GPS. The driver's GPS told them to turn left and instead of turning onto the road adjacent to the tracks, the driver turned onto the tracks adjacent to the road, forgetting that the GPS is normally accurate within 30 feet. This resulted in the mainline being shut down and Amtrak's Crescent having to wait for the tow truck to remove the truck from the tracks. Then the train must crawl across the road to make sure the tracks are safe enough for the following trains.

Early morning a Great Northern mixed freight heads south out of the Pasco yard to cross the Columbia river and head west through the Columbia Gorge to Vancouver, Washington.
