A couple years ago I ran a survey on Amtrak ridership. It's time for a new one, so here it is. I'll keep this up for a few weeks then post a report of my findings.

I filled out your survey. Odd that you don't include Australia in the list of foreign countries that one might have traveled on. We enjoyed rail travel there quite a bit when we visited.

Haven't done Amtrak yet, but hope to. I just looked at the front page and started to wonder how much tipping is expected?!

When I travel I generally carry about $20 in ones for tips to anyone that does a physical act for us. Like carrying bags or bringing room service or serving food in a cash only shop or restaurant. Tip might be anything from $1 to $5. I consider it karma to be nice to people.
