    Ouch! Did the derail do all that damage to the track, or was some of it the cause?

    Dunno. There has been talk about both. I can tell you that we have had some pretty extreme temperature changes, so that would be my guess. We went from being upper 80s to having freeze warnings for several nights back into the upper 80s / low 90s: all in a 10 day period. So, I am supposing that the track buckled because of the quick temp changes.
