Using Central Portal Control. Basic Portal

In Central Portal Control only a single diesel engine is specified.
Immediate emission is set.
This setup is run by loading the route, selecting the session and starting the session. The engine emits ok and run to destination.

Switch to edit mode and add a tree. While in edit mode, switch to Driver and start the session. The engine never appears and when the Edit Setup is checked the Restart is on. Clear it and retry, while staying in edit mode, and the engine does not app pear. Check the Restart flag and it is on which blocked the appearance of the engine.

Leave the edit mode and start the session via the menu system and it operates as expected.

I've tried to follow your instructions but you're using terms not found in the game so this makes it difficult. Could you rephrase using the actual menu names you're clicking on.

Switch to edit mode and add a tree.

Is this done using Tools Menu > Surveyor Mode? Or something else?

While in edit mode, switch to Driver and start the session.
>>
Do you mean Tools Menu > Driver Mode?

The engine never appears and when the Edit Setup is checked the Restart is on.
>>
So we're in Driver mode, how do I get to Edit Setup? (What is Edit setup? Objects > Properties tool?)

Clear it

Clear what?

and retry, while staying in edit mode, and the engine does not app pear.
Is Edit mode in Surveyor? This would be expected.

Check the Restart flag

Which flag is this?

If you are changing from driver to surveyor and adding a tree and then going back to the driver mode it will not emit. You are not going back to the beginning of the session but continuing from the point you exited the driver mode.

This behaviour occurs - by design - with portals scheduled to emit trains at specified intervals following a restart of a saved game in session, Driver mode.
Let's say you have arranged for the portal to emit a train every half-hour/ 30 minutes.
You run the session for 29 minutes and then save the game and exit. Upon restart of the saved game, the portal does not emit a train 1 minute later, rather, it times the emission for 30 elapsed minutes from the time of the session's resumption.
By exiting to Surveyor mode, thus pausing the Driver session, you are effectively restarting the timer on items like portals. The 'soup' does not store (and recover) the elapsed seconds/ minutes for portals in these instances.
