I did it with no problems at all. The trees look funky though and you may want to replace them with Speed Trees, but that's up to you.
I have both Legends of the BN merged together with Eagle River, White Shore, and Dry Brook and Esopus to form a mega route. I call mine the Great Northern Railway and I run a lot of northwestern railroad equipment up there.
