What's wrong with TRS19 Now?

It just never ends....
The latest, and if there's a thread about it already, point me in the right direction. Faulty assets or routes stating "missing dependencies". BUT THERE ARE NO MISSING DEPENDENCIES. And that's after doing a DBR. Seriously, this thing is nothing but a pile of problems, never had these issues in Tane. Can be anything from a building to a wagon, eg <kuid2:69871:2233:1> LARS IndustRail v4, <kuid2:128368:600078:2> 60ft Gondola CP 346231, just as 2 examples.

I just downloaded and installed <kuid2:128368:600078:2> 60ft Gondola CP 346231 from the DLS. No errors and warnings. CM shows no missing or unknown assets.

It has 28 dependencies

Hi Alikiwi
Could you right click on the asset that is shown as 'missing dependencies', then click on 'list dependencies recursively'.

Please then check if any of the dependencies are marked as 'installed, payware (not active)', or that have 'disabled' in the status, as this may cause assets to be marked as missing dependencies.

You may also find for most assets (routes or sessions may not work) that using the 'preview asset' tool may also update the status, which may resolve issues such as this.

I have 13 items that get listed when I use the Content Manager filter "Faulty".

Four of the 13 are in black type with no indication of what the "fault" is and, when individually highlighted then asked to list their faults, show "none".

Two of the 13 show in red type and state "missing dependencies". These are installed payware items. When interrogated individually, using "list dependencies recursively" nothing is shown as missing, uninstalled or disabled.

The other 7 listed as faulty are routes with missing dependencies that can be listed. All are "unknowns" and seem to be assets that have a version number one or more higher than the highest version that actually exists in my database (as a built-in item or a downloaded item or a payware item).

My conclusion is that there is something wrong with the TRS19 data handling routines.

I might have a headache! Some are no-longer showing as faulty, the two examples included. Another issue I know several have had, is dependencies "installed payware not active". This is affecting a couple of sugar-cane locos needed for a route I'm working on. Let me check... <kuid2:97008:35002:1> Qld 2ft Maroochy Locomotive, has two "redhen" sound files, (different kuids - both Auran), <kuid2:523:100432:1> redhen shows as "Payware not active" yet loco is from the DLS and build 2.9.

<kuid2:97008:35001:1> Qld 2ft Valdora Locomotive is the same situation.

<kuid2:96544:15065:2> 3f6i QR CEC Van shows missing dependencies of which there are 4 - NONE missing. If I select recursively it shows 6 assets, again none missing. The list has shrunk following extended DBR at least.

I have reinstalled TRS2019 a couple of times this year due to other PC problems each time there are lots of errors, careful progression through the download station resolve all of these errors with the exception of any pay ware which if genuinely purchase were resolved by the author.

I'm sure many of these issues are related to things like modifying assets, moving content manually and not updating the database, not removing obsolete versions, or installing built-in content incorrectly.

I seldom have problems (I'm not saying they don't exist, just nothing like the descriptions here).

As pware stated :I just downloaded and installed <kuid2:128368:600078:2> 60ft Gondola CP 346231 from the DLS. No errors and warnings. CM shows no missing or unknown assets."

Therefore the problem is with the asset database in your install.

The way to resolve most issues is create a new local data folder and check the "faulty" content there.

I suspect it is missing "Commodity Assets".

I did a database rebuild and suddenly found that all of the sessions in TRS-Midwesten Branch were now sown as Faulty and that the Rout was listed as "Installed. Payware, not active"
I went to the store page and saw that the Route was marked as upgrade.
I ran the update and 3 hours later my CM turned into a see of red with many routs listed as missing dependencies.
Selecting a rout and viewing missing dependency's listed a lot of rolling stock.
Selecting a car and listing dependency's listed new Commodity types available for download.
Downloading those started to stand all the fallen dominoes back up again.

Currently sitting with 33 routs, industries and sessions listed as missing assets so it may be a few days until I have tracked them all down unless someone releases a content pack that addresses the new dependency's created by the update.

I bought this product to run trains but I spend what little time I have available fixing bugs, chasing assets and generally cursing to game rather than playing it.
I will certainly never recommend it to anyone else.

Check your open for edit folder. If assets that are already installed are re-downloaded they are often put in the edit folder. Revert to original may also solve the problem.

Just downloaded Qld 2ft Maroochy from the DLS in TR22 and all assets downloaded fine including the red hen asset. Try a new download.

This is really confusing, if people reply to threads a year old...

But understand the frustration caroper
Problems linger on in Tranz for years and never get really fixed
even the company members themselves use work arounds ;-)

a few tips:
-1 Have 1 stable version where you actually work in, that does not give you headaches (for me build 100240)
-2 Have a beta with the latest version and test test and post post and bug report,
but do NOT put your really big route you work on for 5 years there.
-If you miss something, or things are broken, take 1 step at a time
many here will help you, if you are precise and did your best to understand the problem.

No its not an open the box , plug in and all is working game
but it is the best TrainSim I know and worth the time you put in there.
Don't give up, step by step and try to have fun.

Thanks but there was nothing open for edit and it was following a Ctr-Repair Database.
I selected all of the faulty sessions and then Display Missing Dependency's recursively then selected the Commodities and hit download an Hour later my list was down to only 5 red entries and they were obscure routes so I deleted them and repeated the Database repair.
All now looks good.
Cheers
Chris
