How do you you diagram your route?

I take the simple way out. I decide which locations are important to me, usually industries. Then I do a representative but not to scale track diagram on a sheet of paper (main track layout). Then just pencil in the industry locations so you about where they are on the layout. With the "M" key in driver, I find that is sufficient.

I downloaded the program and I'll see how it works. I can see something like this working for setting up a route diagrams especially if we can print them out.

The program works flawlessly and does a wonderful job of creating your own maps. I just now created a little test siding (On LINUX under Wine, incidentally) and it looks great. It comes with two pre-made routes (Liverpool Loop and Birmingham) Both are complicated but clearly laid out. The creators have clearly done a remarkable job of it.
