CN Heritage Units!

I'm sure you're all aware of this by now, but I haven't seen it posted here, so figured I'll be the one.

At least three CN heritage units have surfaced today - CN 8952, an SD70M-2 in GTW paint; 3115, an ET44AC in BCOL paint; and another ET44AC in IC "Deathstar" paint, the number of which is unknown at this time.

Photos are not my own, they're from the Virtual Railfan Lounge group on Facebook.

Your move, BNSF and CSX...

Hope they dont mess the B&LE one up :|

mostly because it and the trunk are some of my favorite roads. They did this batch real nice so far though

It is nice to see CN joining the heritage units front, though I do wonder if this means we might see the remaining motors still in their old dress (eg IC SD70s, BCOL Dash 9s, EJ&E SD38-2s, etc) disappear or be repainted, but I guess only time will tell.

As chance had it, just hours after the sighting in Centralia, they were put onto CN M396 (Centralia to Toronto) which moves via my hometown. Even though it's a night train, I had to take a peak for myself. Even in the dark, the set of four makes for quite a sight. Especially love the Illinois Central and BC Rail units. Deathstar and Hockey stick are some of my favourite paintschemes.

Grabbed a clip of them on their way into the yard in town. We were given permission to step a little closer, which was quite nice of the employee there!

The rumour mill suggests there are many more than the five currently seen, which would include duplicates of railroads (eg the IC deathstar and another unit for IC brown and orange), but that seems far fetched. I am certainly interested in BLE and DMIR motors, and if we're lucky, maybe a PGE/TTG unit... The latter may be wishful thinking, but that would be something else right there. I believe these are slated to be unveiled officially late in November, but that too may be rumour. Interesting times either way!

Cheers,
SM

This is a bit older, but wouldn't you know the YouTube algorithm knew I was looking for them (I guess) :)

This is a cool video.

Thanks
