PBR and Track?

Is there a way to keep track from being covered with ballast due to nearby PBR?
The PBR texture increases height of the textures and causes textures next to the track (ballast) to cover the track.

You can try to adjusting the ground height around the track by using the smallest circumference, its a pain but can be done[h=2][/h]

Adjust the shader quality to standard in the Trainz Settings Start-up screen.

The obvious question here is that if you do this to solve the problem in a route you are creating, then how will it appear for another user who has downloaded your route but has their shader quality set at a higher value?

Simple answer which solves all the problems, use a PBR track and make sure any PBR textures near splines are used at the minimum scale.

That solution does make sense except that a search for PBR track on the DLS found exactly none. But I did find 32 PBR bridge splines by msgsapper.

If you take the brush with the texture that is causing an issue and paint a larger area than you actually want (usually making the radius larger helps) will fix the clipping issue. After the issue is fixed, grab the original texture you may have painted over and paint the incorrect area. What I tend to do is pick my ballast texture, make the radius a bit larger than the track ballast model itself, and paint all along the track spline. Once that is done, I will go on each side of the track and paint the grass, gravel, etc.

All 4.6 track is PBR compatible. Elstoko, Samplaire, Msgsapper are a few of the authors of good ones. TrainzPlus makes it easy by allowing you to "replace" a texture under road and track splines. I would use a non tiling roadbed texture applied widely at minimum scale, say 20 - 30 metres then a minimum brush for a matching ballast texture to go under the track. Personally, I prefer to apply the ballast texture by hand to get that light and heavy random look

I checked track by searching on keyword PBR, Category=track, on DLS.
The result showed it is all MGSAPPER bridge track which does not have the "flexibility
to be used in a normal track requirement.
There is a UK PBR track title on one asset but it is really a texture.
No PBR track unless it appears in some other searchable form.

MSGSapper's "TRS19 SAP Track U.S." procedural track is a PBR track. I'm using it on my current WIP. PBR textures won't cover it.

Search for track under build version 4.6 - not all PBR assets use PBR in the title, in fact it's usually only ground textures that do.

All my TRS19 routes and layouts use PBR track and PBR textures. It's a matter of finding the correct combination.

Generally most of the built-in PBR textures can be used under the track, providing the scale for the PBR textures is set at or close to the minimum. Some of the PBR textures from the DLS cannot be used even at the minimum setting.

The tracks in the foreground are at normal baseboard height. The tracks in the background are at -0.1 to give the "off the main line lightly used industrial spur" effect. Textures set to minimum.

Same here:

If I had used track at baseboard height instead of -0.12 the track would have been fully visible here:

I'd suggest maybe downloading a few routes that do use PBR track and textures to see what combinations seem to work.
