Good evening, it has been a little while since I was around this neighborhood....been busy aquiring pieces for my HO shelf layout that I am in the process of building. Anyway getting back to neighborhoods... I grew up in a small town in the Northeast that was orginally part of the Penn Central RR before Conrail later aquired it in a merger. I have not been back that way for about 20 plus years so I decided to Google my hometown and see what had become of it. Talk about a shocker, the old tracks I use to roam as an adolescent were pretty much GONE...one of the towns leading industries that had rail service had moved to another state.....(Hint: they are famous for cranberry juice) replaced by warehouses without rail service. The large Agway grain elevator with a small yard attached...also gone with barely a footprint left..............so I got to thinking how alot of the JR Coal Country/ 2019 route reminded me of my old stomping grounds so I pondered how time and change could affect it.....in a weekend's worth of work below you will see the before and after shots. I updated what I consider to be one of my favorite 2019 Routes with new industries, replaced other industries, made a more "suburban" feel to the route it if you will.....
Let's start with some original shots:
