My Automatic Brakes Are Not Working!

Here I was, happily pulling up a 1.5% grade with my Narrow Gage American locomotive <kuid: 1328:100002> and passenger cars on standard track when my narrow gage American decided to drop between the rails. The passenger cars broke loose and began to roll backwards causing all kinds of havoc. I could not bear to watch so I stopped the session. Now, here is my comment. My trains (circa 1900s) all have an automatic air brake system. In other words, if the cars separate from the locomotive (which supplies the air pressure), the cars will automatically brake to a stop. The air pressure is used to RELEASE the brake, not apply the brake. Is there any way to tell Trainz that I am using the automatic braking system?

One of these days, I will find a standard gage American that matches the Green Gorge locomotive or convince Togog to stretch the wheels to standard gage.
