I am more interested in moving freight cars around than driving long distances in trains. With that said, Russell Schoof's Free Haven Terminal track plan (Model Railroader, October 1990 and 48 Top Notch Track Plans, 1993) inspired me to create this version of his original design. I up-sized the original track plan and used modeler's license to modernize it somewhat. I also used my memories of the SP working the Port of Los Angeles and Port of Long Beach many years ago.

Industries served by ship and rail are a wharf warehouse, grain elevator, fuel terminal, lumber transfer facility, and a scrap recycler. Rail only industries are general/transfer warehouses, metal fabricators, a cold storage warehouse, a paper company, a distribution center, and a team track. Reefers, centerbeams, boxcars, tank cars, coil cars, grain and chemical covered hoppers, gondolas, and high cubes will all be needed to service the included industries.

The operational concept is simple - a cut of cars arrives from staging, gets sorted in the yard by destination, and the cars get spotted. Pick-ups are returned to the yard and assembled into a train that goes back to staging.

I designed the staging yard with 5 inbound and 5 outbound tracks (Mon-Fri). I'm giving my imaginary railroaders the weekend off. If you spend an hour or so creating 5 days worth of inbound consists, you will have many hours of work to perform before returning to repopulate the inbound tracks. I created an Excel sheet that I use to help me create the consists with the help of a dice app on my phone. If anyone is interested in seeing it, please let me know.

I have to thank the many generous content creators for making this a possibility and is why this simulator is so outstanding. As the cliche goes 'I couldn't have done it without you', where 'you' means everyone in this case.

I originally uploaded the route without including the custom content that I created for it, but I just received email confirmation that my custom assets have been approved for upload and should appear on the DLS shortly. There are only 3 assets listed as Payware, but JR Niota Lumber and JR Northern Propane can be found as Freeware on the Jointed Rail website. Asphalt texture 02 was bulk replaced but still appears in the dependency list - it can be ignored.

I just noticed on one screenshot that I left a red fire hydrant in the middle of the street. Please feel free to delete it, Thanks!

I hope you enjoy this layout as much as I did putting it together.

Great work on this layout. I almost didn't see it but I'm so glad I did. You have done a wonderful job creating it and Thank You so much for sharing it.

I only have one missing kuid <kuid:429208:100001> Is it possible to get that one kuid?

Kuid:429208:100001 is an asset I made for another project. It somehow ended up underneath one of the streets on this route. It can be deleted. I have already deleted it from my 'master' version of the layout, along with the fire hydrant I placed in the middle of the street, but I want to wait a few weeks to see if more issues come up that I can fix before releasing an update.

That is quite some model railroad layout Hank. It's plainly very well set up for interesting switching operation. I'm a Uk pre-1912 era modeller, but even so I enjoy shunting and trip working too so I can see the potential your layout has.
 
@pepperref,

The pictures of your layout are very interesting to me, and I like the idea of using an Excel spreadsheet to plan the scheduling. The only problem is that I have TANE SP4 (105946), and, unfortunately, I have 50 unknown assets. I'm wondering if they part of one if the payware assets you mentioned. I have attached the list. I am also missing 62 assets in TANE SP4. This reduces to 56 in TRS2019 Platinum.

In TRS2019 they are.. (including your asset under the street) So only 55 missing now.

I'm sorry to hear about the technical problems. While I've had those issues with TRS19 after 'updates', I haven't experienced that behavior with TANE. I'm not a computer expert, but since others are not having the same problem, I can only suggest to download all the assets and do a database rebuild. Rebuilds seem to solve most issues I've ever had with this simulator.

As for the missing kuids, I've researched the list to find the following. While much of it is freeware, I used about 20 assets from Jointed Rails' Tidewater Point route. They weren't individually listed as Payware because they were included in the Tidewater route package and became part of my database. I'm sorry to say that I won't be spending anytime trying to replace those items with DLC content because specific areas were created on the route with those assets in mind.

I managed to find all the unknown assets I listed, except, of course, for the Tidewater Point items. I'm sorry that you are not going to do substitutions, because that means I would have to pay $40 to use your route. I know, I would be getting two routes for that, but I really have no interest in the Tidewater Point. Sorry.

I understand the dissatisfaction concerning the Tidewater assets, I've run into similar issues myself on routes created by others, however, I've been working on this route for over a year and a half in my spare time and I just can't justify spending a few more months rearranging entire sections of the route to use substitutions. I'm sorry.

On the other hand, it was released as freeware, so if anyone wants to spend the time replacing the Tidewater assets, please feel free to do so.

I completely understand your not wanting to try to figure out how to replace all of the Tidewater Point assets. But your last sentence sort of struck me. It wouldn't cost me anything (except time, of course) to see what I could come up with. The main problem is that I don't know what the assets are, or where they are. If you could do two things, when you have the time, I would really appreciate it. I am guessing that the assets are not rolling stock. If they are, just tell me what they are - box car, reefer, flat car, or whatever. If they are scenery, though, could you tell me two things, 1) what you called them (what JR called them wouldn't help at all, unless you called them the same thing), and 2), where they are located - near what junction or near one of the items that you know I have. I appreciate any help you can provide.

Before you start, I found found all of these except for <kuid:175455:200118> JR Trailer Stairs Right - 4 in fuel terminal car loading area
by doing a Google search, I ended up on a Russian site https://trainzland.ru/ that had almost all of them available. A couple of them were on another site (also Russian) Didn't take too long to locate and D/L them.
Once I had them all, I noticed that a lot of the assets had updates available too. All Ok now except for the one noted above. I'll start searching for it again now that I know what it is called.
